Sweet! But the bullet splashes in the water would be half way up the trees for a M-60 MG in the Heli Door gunner position..or a Huey MG Pod, to the top of the tree's for a Vulcan 20mm canon.Same goes for the 20 mm minigun in the AH1-Cobra Gunship.

Really, so high the splashes ???????? Hum, I saw very high splashes but from miniguns on the water...Do you have any video with m60 firing on the water ???? Anyway, thank you very much for your comment ¡¡¡

This is very well done. I have followed along the whole time you were working on it and it really came out brilliantly.
The figures and foliage and building, everything is super nice. This is one of the very best Vietnam era dios that I have seen.

Very nice diorama, beautifully executed. I wish I was capable of such results.

Regarding the bullet splashes, I think it would look a little strange on a miniature diorama if you made the splashes very much higher, even if they perhaps would be higher in real life. They would look "out of scale" from the perspective of the viewer of the diorama, and perhaps even overpower the scene.

Keep them as they are (or only slightly higher), so you keep the nice visual perspective you have achieved.

Your terrain is absolutely top notch! Nothing to say...!!!

Your figures look good too!! Great attention to detail, like the convincing foliage attached to their backs and helmets!!

Very good to see that this one is on the road again! I can hardly wait to see the chopper hoovering above.
Your water came out really nice and the ox cart is really original and looks great; there are many awesome details in your dio, great work!
looking forward to your next update!

Mark

ps this song came to my mind reading the title of this topic and the fact that it was used in one of my favourite Vietnam movies 'Apocalypse Now'...

This diorama has really turned out well. Like Jerry I have been watching this one from the beginning and am very impressed with your work. The groundwork, vegetation, rice paddy, and figures are all excellent. The bullet splashes would be quite a bit higher in real life, but like someone else mentioned, I think making them that high would take away from the story your diorama is telling. If you are able to, make them just a tad higher to make them a little bit more noticeable, but not so high that they detract from the story.

This is one of the best Vietnam dioramas I have seen, and being that Vietnam is pretty much the main subject I model, that isn't something that I would say unless if I meant it. Bravo. Great work!

Cheers,
James

Well, I missed that one until now and must say that I am simply impressed by this diorama.
The vegetation is just beautifully rendered, the water movements fantastic, really , WOW.

I defintely will go back to your original thread and hope to get some more infos on the waterwork, the waves especially.

Well done Csago!

Csago. outstanding in all aspects. After seeing this now I realize the dio I am working on needs some more leafy stuff. I remember the Cyuse heli you were working on for this which propted me to p/u one for my V.N. choppers collection, which now totals 5 for future dios when I am done with my S.pacific stuff. Just absolutly one of the best I have laid eyes on in a while. And the wave ripple are with out a doubt the best.

Beuatiful work, very impressive. The attention to detail and realistic feel of the diorama are some of the best I have seen. What did you use for the water?

Thanks to everybody for the kind words...right now I have the helicopter stoped because I had no time for modelling...

About water, it´s clear poliester resin mixed with its proper hardener 2%, apllyed in several coats (3-5mm) with less paint each coat. The waves were made with an acrilic gel for artistic painters, very gloss and heavy, with a wash of brown when dry.

I hope to finish the whole dio next spring ...be sure I send pictures here.

Thank you very much.
