Another commision, as stated, a DML USMC M1A1HA, with some eduard PE, mainly for the turret basket screen, Tiger Models sponson box handles, Archer Dry Transfers (markings), and Pieces from the Tamiya Modern Accesory Set. The Figure is from the Recent Tamiya M2A2 ODS release.

For a DML M1 kit, no problems other than with the turret basket. I replaced the "rods" on the side of the turret with plastic rod, otherwise, a-ok. No real warpage or flash issues, even though this is a recent Shanghai dragon re-release.

The idea behind this one is that it may..or may not...represent a USMC tank in Iraq. Hence it has the modern markings, but the plate on the base is generic. Also, the paint scheme is just plain Forest green vs. the NATO three tone this particular tank should be in. Also, this means some stowage, but nothing over the top.

one long shot, one close up of the figgie. All I have withme on vacation.

hmm, hmm,hmm.....sorry Jacques, I've got to laugh. After the recent banter on the accuracy/inaccuracy of the Dragon/DML M1A1HA kit, I must say, it's good to see an example of superb kit building with such a heinous kit.

All kidding/non-kidding aside, it looks great Jacques! As I said on another thread, the kit looks just fine to me. Additionally, since you made the mistake of mentioning (just kidding) that it "might" be a USMC tank in Iraq, why don't you wrap it up in Task Force Tarawa clothing....I don't know if I'm ever going to finish mine......unless I meditate to Buddha to get rid of all the 'bad vibes'........ :-) :-) :-)

...just trying for some levity gang. #:-)

Very nice work there Jaques. Yup, I have to admit it, I do like how the tank commander looks at the camera.

First, it "maybe in Iraq" as per my "buyers" request...basically, no specific stuff for Iraq, just general USMC stuff, but with a sandy base and dusting...Sometimes I don't get these guys...

anyhow, the marines in Iraq, to the best of my picture collecting from the various internet sources, have tanks in all three colors: NATO Tri-color, Forest Green, and Desert tan. All are M1A1HA models. They also tend to keep the rear exhaust shroud if dismounts are around to help deflect the heat of the exhaust up, so tha is why it is there.

as for Tarawa...nah, I'll just build another M1, maybe the new Tamiya M1A2, soon.

M1,
Are we in such AWE that a DML M1 is a decent kit, that we think the Loader has been promoted to TC. GEEEZZZ ...Kinda hard commanding a Tank from the Loaders position dont you think? WHERES the controls and screens, all he would see is M240 butt and
breech block from this angle> COME ON guys at least make us think you know TANKS.!!
That's me liftin my PERVERBIAL leg TREAD LOL gotcha ya

PS: Jacques GREAT build no matter what the PEANUT gallery balks.

oh come on, even loaders have to have a chance to see the blue sky, even if the TC is buttoned up...well, in theory at least. Ha!

Yeah Rotor, I was wondering when someone would make a comment on my "TC" being in the wrong hatch. I just like the look of the figgies poppingout of that nice round turret hatch vs. that monstrosity they give teh TC's...just for the look on the model anyhow. That and the loaders hatch is so much easier to clean up.

LOL...LOL...LOL, always like a good chuckle first thing in the morning...thx Rotor! Good ol' Rotor, always looking to relieve himself on somebody's tree. #:-)
Maybe we should all chip in and get you a years supply of 'Depends'..........never know, might help.

...just pulling your leg Rotor, you can do all the lifting.

Tread.

BTW, believe it not, as unlearned as I am compared to some of the tankers on site, I also noticed which hatch was opened. I just didn't have to 'go' right then.

Wow! I like it! Especially the positioning of the tank commander. It looks so real. The face is well detailed. Additionally, the ground work looks good. What did you use for the sand? The nameplate wraps the entire model in place. Good job!

Hi, Jacques. Very nice, very nice indeed. If I can get mine to come out just half that good I will be satisified. And I love the figure. Really great work there.

Take care, Sgirty
