Correct, by the time the M3A2 was ready for production, the need for halftracks had declined to the point where new types were not necessary. Only one pilot model was produced of the T29 (prototype M3A2), but a total of five M3s were pulled from the production line to create M3A2s. Only the the pilot model was fully completed as the M3A2.

No, if you have it and like to build kits, just build it out of box. If you'd like to build it to an earlier variant, they aren't too many modifications that are required to bring it into M3 standards. There are several back dating articles in various modeling manuals and magazines. If you build it as an M3A2 you can also use the various PE sets to further detail the kit.

If I remember correctly,Tamiya does include on the instruction sheet what all to remove to make it an M3A1 However,the truly difficult part is removing the molded on ladders on the sides without destroying any of the detail I tried that many years ago and failed misserably Good luck on it

Yeah thank you both guys. But these modifications u know...i was making the inventory of my (undone) models today..wow..it takes years to modifi'em all. Cos most of them are since 80's. Anyway..i'll see what i can do after the holiday. Thanx again guys.
