Hey Everyone, I have heard that insurgents in Iraq would set fire to any flammable stowage on Abrams tanks. With that in mind, can I still include 1 or 2 backpacks on my Tusk I Abrams? Thanks again for your help.

Yes, the crews still had to carry some gear. It wasn't that insurgents tried to set the baggage on fire, the just tended to catch fire when an IED or RPG struck the vehicles. By the time TUSK was used on Abrams tanks, '04-'05, not much gear was carried on them though. You would only see a few small bags, a couple MRE boxes, and a couple water bottle boxes; just enough to sustain the crew for about a day.

Thanks HeavyArty. Does the placement of the backpacks matter, i.e on the side of the turret bustle vs in the bustle rack. Secondly, what color would the backpacks typically be? Thanks again.

Either location is fine. They could be either green, ACU pattern, DCU pattern, coyote brown, etc..
