What is this and where do I get one in 1/35th or 1:1 scale?

I'm not sure what it is but I have to have one also. If there is a model of the truck before it was modified let me know. I smell T2K 2004 all over this one

New Truck,
Its an M1078 FMTV . Current truck fielded by US Army . It will
replace the 2.5 ton trucks in service. There are (3) types so far. My old unit 9th TSC got 4 vehicles in the fall of 2000. ENJOY it while you can theres no model in plastic.

Theres a single axle (2 1/2 ton) and a dual axle (5 ton) verisons....they are replacing the older 900 series and the deuce and half in active service. The one shown is a cut down cab verison the the special forces use and its made by Stuart Stevenson and not Oshkosh

LOL Hell with Trumpeter doing an SA-2 Truck and trailer and a Faun Tank Transporter, They'd have the BALLS to do it, and not blink an eye. Unlike the other big 3.........

For LRRP, SFs need a vehicle larger than the Dumvee. The trend for Desert SF Ops now is to go 6X6 or medium truck that can carry more than a Dumvee, Land Rover, DPV, or LSV.
It's basically a cheapie (probably not cheap) version of a SF guntruck sans armor. The Australians have the 6X6 Land Rover with weapon's pole in the bed. Most have a main AA MG or GL pole armament and one or more MGs on pintle mounts.
Such a kit wouldn't look good without the crew and cargo though.

Howdy Fellas,
Heck if Trumpeter's in the business of copying Accurate Armour's stuff...where's my wish list...just a minute, I know it's here somewhere..........
Here's an idea...Since Trumpeter seems to think 'out of the box' a wee bit, and produce's the things we have wished other companies had made, why doesn't Trumpeter open a smaller 'side' company devoted to the more esoteric items on people's wish lists? Ya know, kinda like AFV did with Hobby Fan? Think what they could offer..............just started mentally going over my list and my brain is beginning to melt! #:-)

Start with this : http://www.scale35.com. Then go to HSV, then to Page 4, The Steyr 12M18 is the basis for the U.S FMTV M1078. You need to make some changes to the Steyr in the way of adding a spare tire carrier and air filter system behind the cab. Then go to town hacking the cab and bed up. 5th SFG has some rather unique vehicles in their inventory. Another cool vehicle they have is the Toyota pick ups set up as gun trucks.

They also use the Land Rover's new type and an open topped Hummer w/ heavy roll bar and weapons fit.

That one's highly modified, looks like a neat conversion. I've got four different ones at work, two 2½ ton deuces, a 5 ton with MHE and the M1089A1 5 ton wrecker. One of my deuces came with paperwork stating that it was a 5 ton fueler (based on Stewart Stevenson's records) so after we contacted them they sent us another deuce and the 5 ton cargo to get us to shut up about it.
I went through some of the driver's training on them with the rest of my unit. Push button shifting, automatic Jake brake, thing drives like a dream and makes a complete circle in a very small area. One drawback is that it rides really high and it would be difficult for an assistant driver to fight from the passenger seat without shooting out the windshield or without the ring mount installed.

Not to mention if it rolls over a mine, the crew is toast!
From what I read, there's no easy way to fix that problem since the cab's over the front tires.

They build those trucks just outside Houston, Texas.
