Hello,
I am working on the Revell Boxer and I need to paint the mudflaps in the back. I tried Vallejo primer and paint but it peeled off. Can I use a hot primer like Mr. Surfacer or Tamiya? Or will it melt the rubber?

Thank you.

Can you apply some of the Hot primer to the back side for a test? If not is there a piece of the parts tree you can test?

I did try some Mr Surfacer 1200 and it still cracked. I have read that maybe spraying a coat of matt varnish might help with the adhesion but not sure. I may just cast a set out of resin. Would be a good first project.

I don't plan on moving them but I left them off until the end so I could paint behind them.

An altenative solution would be not to paint the tires and just apply some pigments that stick well on rubber. This is what I usually do, on tracks or tires.

scuff the rubber & paint it with lacquer paint.

I thought of this but my references show that they paint them to match the camo pattern. But thank you for the idea.
