Hi Gerry,
I missed your post somehow... but I've just seen it now!
Wow, you've put some real work into this one..!!! ..producing a lot of light....and unfortunately a lot of shadow as well!
Some of the problems might well come from the photos, especially the greenish tone of the uniform shirts and shorts....and the strange grey of the weapons.
Others are not "colour-bound" unfortunately!
The turban of the guy in the "Thompson jeep" is not even touching the shoulder!!
Some of the faces are merely "manikins"...
Never drybrush highlights in a different colour. Base colour plus white is OK, but a different colour...no way!
And I could go on, but I do not want to "forget" about the light!
The idea is sound! Congrats!!
The composition is just fine (well to be honest, with this crowd, you didn't have that much choice, did you! )
The vehicles are well chosen! The painting and weathering are very good too!
I love the wireless and the guy manning it. To turn this into a "last weather forecast" or "last briefing" is just brilliant!
Well, I better get me coat and shuddup. I've bored everybody enough for today!
Cheers
Romain

Nice job! Its a busy dio and it certainly has the feel of a pre-raid briefing. I would however suggest removing the .30 browning, the MG 42 (VERY rare in N Africa with only 17k produced the entire year of 42) and replacing the old Tamiya Ma Duece with a more modern and accurate one. The spade grips are just a blob on the rear of the gun.
I do love the variety of the uniforms...
Now I can hear the arguments for the MG42 forming.

Very interesting and ambitious. Well thought out and executed! A couple of issues with figure painting which more practice will cure.

Good composition with plenty going on.
one issue, you say it's the LRDG pre mission but the badge is the emblem and motto of the SAS. The LRDG badge was a scorpion inside a wheel and the motto Non Vi Sed Arte (Not by strength, by guile)

Thankd for looking and tking the time to reply.
The lighting I have at the moment is a bit of an issue and has been playing up with my photographs.
I think I had a problem the last time I posted when my Russian navy uniforms which are dark blue turned out like corn blue under the lights?
I take on board what you have said and I was experimenting with trying to create a veteran sun tanned look to these guys who have been in theatre a while.
Practice practice practice along with constructive criticism from you guys is the way forward.
Cheers

Thanks for looking and taking the time to reply.
I agree with you about the ma deuce and I intend to replace it in due course.
The reason I included the MG42 was that the SAS and LRDG tended to use captured weapons they liked over the issued ones.
I am sure that in a lot of their raids they would have picked up the best weapons they could find of enemy origin if it was better than what they had. They also had a problem getting decent weapons as they were looked down on by the military establishment and had to beg borrow and steal what they needed.
Cheers

I wanted to try and create a well worn veteran look for these guys with sun tanned weather beaten faces, and legs.
I will keep peacticing till I get it right.

You are perfectly correct and I made a mistake by calling them LRDG and using the SAS badge.
I was under the wrong impression that the LRDG morphed into the SAS when they were in fact two seperate units along with Popskis Private Army operating in North Africa.
I think I will stick with the LRDG title and change the badge.
Cheers

To add to the confusion, all the heavily laden jeeps you have in the scene are SAS ones, and Chevy is the only LRDG vehicle.

Did the SAS not use command vehicles as well?
This area of WW2 is not my strong point.
