Back after a LONGGGGGGGG absence. Life, you know, happens!
Had finished M5A1 a few years back, but it sat gathering dust on my shelf until a recent Death of a Rose bush in my garden presented me with a great root ball to sliced dice and hedgerow . . .
I cut the root ball in two and then clued it to the base with a couple inch gap. next I filled in the space and base with my favorite landfill - Plumbers Putty ( Home Depot. A few left over roots tendrils to become branches and tangle . . . a bitt of dirt from the gutter in front of the house a little paint and dry-brushing and here it is:
Just spotted I forgot the radio antenna and she needs more dirt and grime. . . Oh well back to the table!

You could add more residual earth caught on the 'salad fork' with bits of foliage trailing off.

Hi John,
great looking little scene! Congratulations on using fine roots! And I like your sandbags!!
One thing if you allow me: Normandy was in early summer, i.e. the whole area was full of foliage!! Leaves, leaves ...and more leaves! And your scene is not showing any! The yellow-coloured lichen is not really helpful either!
You should do yourself a favour and add a lot of finer twigs/branches (either coarse steel wool or rubberised horsehair) and sprikle them with foliage material.
All scenery stuff selling companies have them in their product range. Just ask if you need help here!
And one small thing: the tracks (a tad too clean) would dig deeply into the soil, especially if the tank is trying to break through such a massive hedgerow as those in Normandy!
Cheers
Romain
