I'm not sure what the problem is here...If you are going to repaint everything, just wash off the oil was with thinner and let it dry a couple hours and you should be good to go. Use an old toothbrush to get in the crevices. If you've added a well thinned wash, the thinner will cause it to dry very quickly, anyway, so you could paint over it.

I decided to repaint part of my Panther with after I did an oil wash.. I didn't remove the old wash, I just let it completely dry (about a week), lightly sanded the repaint areas and resprayed a acrylic base coat which seems to be just fine. I haven't painted any further yet.. I am gonna wait for the base coat to cure before I move on..

Just a thought -
Are you sure you want to paint over it, verses remove it all?

I did a wash recently over enamels, didnt like it, didnt care much for the base coat.
EZ Off Oven Cleaner to the rescue !

Down to the bare plastic, I started over very fresh!
Now I'm much happier
