Good idea but now we know that it's a good kit, why wouldn't any self respecting MKIV fan want at least 1 trundling along (at scale speed) on their workbench?


I'm actually glad Tamiya made it motorised now.

I still can't justify paying $100 here in the States for it though.

Never would have thought of that. Very original, but how he will you keep it from damaging the ground work once applied?

SprueBrothers has it for $101.99. They're the only people in the States I shop from that have it so far. Yeah, it's cheaper from Asian shops, but that doesn't change the fact Tamiya is insane when it comes to pricing.

I am planning on having two slight trenchs which the tank tracks will sit in and build up the groundwork around the edge of the model to hide this.
The alternative is to raise the rear of the tank slightly with another pin so that he track actually clears the base by a couple of mm

Scale Hobbyist has it for $83.95. I just ordered one. It's more expensive than Takoms, but the fact that it'll be a breeze to put together, especially the tracks, and comes with the figures, I think it's not that bad. Plus it's motorized which I think is a neat idea! Kudos to Tamiya!!

Yes if it was a toy with rubber band tracks then it would have been bad but seeing as it looks like an accurate MKIV with some nice indie link tracks then it is a neat idea.

Neat idea for display. Years back, I built Tamiya's M-41 with a motor. Had a lot of fun watching it tool around the floor of my grandmother's dining room. Her cat, a very aloof Persian, was watching the proceedings disdainfully until the tank veered suddenly and ran over her tail. She disappeared upstairs and refused to return. That night she exacted her revenge, sneaking up onto the dining room table, pouncing on the 'sleeping' tank, and beating it up pretty thoroughly. The damage was repairable, but that was the last time that I was tempted to motorize a model. Al

I picked both the Tamiya Mk IV and the Takom Mk IV so I could do a bit of a side by side build. The Tamiya kit looks the far easier to build judging by the contents of both boxes, but I certainly won't be installing the motor.

I paid $57 with free shipping from GB on Amazon. It was the US version with the figures.

It seen it with a 50 pound RRP in the UK, and that's with Dave's 17% VAT added on.

I built one earlier this year,typical Tamiya build,perfect fit,great tracks,came out pretty good.Got it for $65.00 at a show.

Just started building mine and I'm putting the motor in there. Had to scrape some paint off the spokes though so the wheels move freely.

I bought it with the intent to display and not motorize it. It was such an easy build I did it with the motor. You cant see it either way. Very fun build. Still have a few small pieces to add and paint right now.
