HI guys,
Going to tackle both of these USMC tanks, would be great if anyone can identify all the bits or refer links, and measurements so I can scratch build. Or give me the correct names so I can google them. Thanks!
I'll post pics once I'm done like for my other stuff.

I only listed what I can guess, totally lost on the others :

Lost Souls:
1.Fuel Pump?
3.50cal ammo box in yellow?
5. and 8. Ammo crates?
13. VHF antenna with mount?
14. 50cal ammo box
16. MOLLE packs? Which resin sets would be correct for this period?
17.and 18. SATCOMMS?
19. TI phone measurements?
Reference for that White Chair? Suggestions for making it?
I'm thinking the usual 0.3 styrene sheet..

Nightmares Witness:
A. M16....A2 or A4?
C. Some kind of bar...?
Who makes good Air Recognition panels?
G. Ammo crate?
H. Chem suit packs?
K. and M. Duct tape?
L. What pattern of camo net is this? and who makes them?

No 1 looks like the power cable for tanks with the plow fitted, but I am no expert.

Thanks for the attempt Darren.
Hopefully more info will come soon. How I hate to build anything without identifying the details.

Sorry, I'm not of much help here but I wanted to ask how are you planning to make the netting on Nightmares Witness?

My take on what I see.

Lost Souls:
1.Fuel Pump? I agree that #1 looks like the cable for a plow or roller.
3.50cal ammo box in yellow? Looks like it to me.
5. and 8. Ammo crates? Yup, wooden ones
13. VHF antenna with mount? Looks like it. May be an FSO or ALO antenna. It isn't in a normal place for a tank
14. 50cal ammo box. Yes, looks like it is open with a radio sticking out of it.
16. MOLLE packs? Which resin sets would be correct for this period? The cammo one looks like a rolled up JSLIST suit to me. The other looks like an assault pack. Legend does some good assault packs.
17.and 18. SATCOMMS? 17 looks like the open top for the .50 cal ammo can. 18 looks like an antenna on a manpack SICGARS or Harris radio that is in the ammo can.
19. TI phone measurements? It is about 6" long x 4" tall x 3" deep.
Reference for that White Chair? Suggestions for making it?
I'm thinking the usual 0.3 styrene sheet.. Sounds good.

Nightmares Witness:
A. M16....A2 or A4? Hard to tell, looks like they may be A4s w/scopes.
C. Some kind of bar...? Tanker bar
Who makes good Air Recognition panels? No one that I know of. They can be easily made w/lead foil cut to size and painted international orange on one side and OD Green on the other.
G. Ammo crate? Yes, wooden again.
H. Chem suit packs? M40 Protective Mask carrier bags, the same as worn on the side of the left leg when worn.
K. and M. Duct tape? They look like either thermal tape for IFF, or M8 chemical detection tape.
L. What pattern of camo net is this? and who makes them? Looks like standard desert camo nets to me. I think Echelon makes some.

Hope that helps.

Both Echelon and AFV Club make the nets as decals. They are extremely brittle--I tried gently rolling one up and it just crumbled.

There's another brand that is regarded as the best--it's more robust and can be folded, rolled, and crumpled.

Here's a thread discussing all the nets:

Hey my friend. Here are some answers for "Lost Souls". It's call sign was Charlie-42 and was the Xo's tank for 1st Tank, Charlie Company.
#1 is the Slave cable set.
#13 is the FAC's SINCGARS Antenna mount. The mounting piece was made by the Battalion Maint for the extra SINCGARS set used by the FAC. Then it was bolted to the EAPU conduit. During a time of war the loader is exchanged out for an USMC pilot to working as a FAC in the XO's tank. He also assumes the duty of the loader if needed.
I have a decent knowledge of this one because I have been working on it for a too long. I finally got the main base coat on mine a month ago. A couple of your photos I have not seen before and add some details. Drop me an email off line and I can get you the proper T/I Box dimensions.
[email protected]
In regards to the white chair. That was called "The [auto-censored]ter Chair" No explanation needed.
Good luck

Mario, guess I'll be using either Arkebuza or Kamizukuri but Don't know which is the correct pattern yet. And both seems sold out.If not I'll try AFV clubs'.

Thanks Gino, Lucas, and Joseph.
Joseph I'll email you soon.

Errr what about those stuff I Didn't number..I have no clue about?
1 Any pics or dimensions for the Slave Cable?.I only have
pics of it installed.
2 Oil Pans?
3.Why the heck paint a 50cal ammo box yellow?
4?
5. and 8. For what Ammo and Any dimensions on these?
9,10,11,12, 15?
14.17.18. Now I see the top open on the 50cal ammo box. Is the radio in the 50cal box a AN/PRC-113? If so that Pro Arts' set should have it.
There another 2 antennas (1 is folded) behind the 50cal's top. What handset is that?

I see, XOs get Chairs, and not wooden boxes for their biz..

Nightmares Witness:
B?
C. Errr Tanker bar? Pickets for anti theft use?
D,E,F?
G. Wooden Ammo crates, any idea for which ammo?
I,J?

I will post all the solutions for the parts once I source them out.

I still think 1 is not a slave cable. Slave cables have two wires together and a large end coupler.

1 looks like a single large cable with screw-on end connectors, known as cannon plugs. It looks like the cable used to power a mine plow or some other attachment.

The ammo crates are for two .50 cal sized ammo cans for either .50 cal or 5.56 ammo.

Sometimes crews paint ammo cans and boxes so they are esy to ID as theirs. Who knows why they painted it. Also, it may be a different shade of sand/tan, not yellow.

2 does look like drip pans.

9 is a tent bag.
10 is a folded tarp
11 is a sleeping bag stuff sack.
12 is an assault pack, ie. backpack.

D is a sleeping bag in stuff sack
E is an oil can
F looks like personal bags
G see above for ammo crate

Hope that gets you closer.

The tanker bar is a large pry bar like the one in the bottom of the image of this Sherman (long, steel bar).

They are used as a pry bar when working on tracks or other big, heavy objects.

GC Laser makes the .50 cal wood ammo crates. Take a look at them here:

http://www.gclaser.com/1-35-scale-50cal-2-can-linked-220-rnd-6-pack/

I think Verlinden also makes the crates.

Thanks Lucas, I don't recall hearing of that company. Is this the one? .50CAL 2-CAN LINKED 220-RND 6-PACK. (350013)

The only other set form Verlinden I know of is the Small arms ammo boxes. (VP0088) The .50 cal on the right end looks like the same one on my humvee.
Are those all modern boxes? Can any of them be identified on Either of the tanks?

In looking at your pictures closely, I think box 5 is bigger than the boxes listed for 8 (twice as wide, possibly taller and longer, too). Neither of them looks like that GC Laser box in your picture. The #8 boxes look more like this:
or like like the .50 cal box from the Verlinden set (bottom right in the picture). Could it be that the #8 boxes are .30 cal ammo crates and #5 is a .50 cal? I'm not sure--maybe someone who is around these boxes frequently can weigh in (Gino?).

Hi Nick

I guess boxes #8 could be "Cartridges, Small Arms" boxes for 7.62mm ammo like these :

Frenchy--great picture, and thanks for clarifying what I meant. I guess I brainlessly followed Verliden's labeling of ".30 cal" when I should have known that's not the standard anymore.

AFAIK, these are M2A1 wirebound plywood containers also used for the 5.56mm, 9mm, and 45cal cartridges.

#1 looks like a fueling hose, you can see the nozzle just to the right.
#4 and #6 look like part of the new sleeping bag system to me
#9 maybe a duffel bag holding the poles for camo netting or the cleaning rod for punching the gun tube?
#10 maybe a folding camp stool on top of the rubberized "tank tarp"

Great information everyone!

For Lost Souls :

Ok since Verlinden has a package for the ammo boxes I'll probably get it and that would settle it.

Henri,
Good to see you back here. Ok I'll go with the fuel hose.. although I was hoping it wasn't! Another thin part to scratch..sigh. More searching for close up pics of that hose now..

What's it called, so I can google it?

#9 maybe a duffel bag holding the poles for camo netting or the cleaning rod for punching the gun tube?

Or tent bag that Gino mentioned. Yup like the bag Tamiya and Legend supplies in their modern kits. So I'll go with that as a basis.

#10 maybe a folding camp stool on top of the rubberized "tank tarp"

Cool I'll do a simple folding metal stool thingy.
Anyone knows the actual size of those "tank tarps"?

I'm thinking if the Black Box behind the loader, #15 could be the Bore Sighting Container?

For the Comms "14.17.18." OK a AN/PRC-113 in the .50cal open ammo box. Since that's what it looks like and good Pro Arts' set has it.

But I'm not sure about the other 2 Antennas that's behind the ammo box cover. Should they belong to a SINCGARS radio set and used for #13 the FAC's SINCGARS Antenna???

Sorry if it's a dumb question, the more I learn about COMMS the more confused I get

For Nightmares Witness :
Anyone knows what's that tan colored Cylindrical Container with the white label #E ???

there are actually quite a few that i am positive of knowing..and a few that i know what they are, but dont know the nomenclature

2 is a spool of communication (phone)wire. http://www.cjcomponents.com/product/WD-1-TT/WD-1-TT.html

5/8 is a box of ammo, as box 3 is (i think)
4/6/d, and probably 9 (9 may be a tent, but not likely) is a compression sack with a sleeping bag in it. http://www.amazon.com/Official-Military-Compression-Stuff-Sack/dp/B002T9JVN2

13 is a radio antennae mount of some sort. again, im not an expert with radio nomenclatures.
17/18 is a radio-18 specifically is the antenae for it (not satcom)again, im not an expert with radio nomenclatures. 17 is more of an ammo can lid, but in front of it is a radio. Its a thick round black rubber antennae

A is m-16s, or a variant of it (too long to be an M4) from the looks of it, looks to be early in the "War" before Marines would have used the m4 in majority.

15 is a green plastic box that contains black foam, usually for optics, or other sensitive radio equipement. i remember seeing them many times, but cannot remember what is usually in those.

9 is not a camo net bag. the camo net pole bags are much bigger, and would not come close to be able to be held there by anything.
here is a USMC pole bag--http://www.omahas.com/camo-net-pole-bag
not much to compare size to, but if you look at the strap, it will give a general idea that a camo net pole bag is much bigger than what is pictured
