Given current events, this could be several other places I suppose.

I finished this very recently. Started out as a simple Tamiya T-72 build, but then, several Tank Models, Rest Models, Evolution Miniatures and MiniArm components later, I ended up with this. Enjoy!

Hi Tim,

great show! Congratulations!!

I like the dirty gritty look so typical of the footage we saw on TV! Well done!!

These figures are hard to resist, aren't they!!

Cheers

Nice build Tim.
Great choice on the figures and as Romain mentioned it does look like the grimmy you felt watching TV news.

Excellent work Tim- you've really got the 'look' of Chechnya down very well in the way you have finished the soldiers, as Romain and Tom have mentioned. The layout is nice and simple and allows you to appreciate the figures. Great work and thanks for sharing. (Some more photos would be great if you have the time!)

Thanks all for the comments and encouragement. As requested, more photos. I think I'm also going to take some shots out of doors, maybe play around with the various camera phone settings (I swear my phone takes better pictures than my old digital camera does!)

I agree. Great work here and it all looks really good but this good work deserves better pictures!!
Outside also using some forced perspective would be perfect.J

Yep, excellent idea. I plan to try this over the weekend (weather permitting).

Stay tuned!

Thanks for the extra photos Tim- some outside shots would probably give you better lighting. I like the several empty smoke dischargers on the tank.

Hi Tim,

outdoor is fine and figures look even better....but grass is too dominant (and out of scale). It would be Vietnam,.. maybe, ....but the Caucasus, no!!

(Rather) drab buildings (factory!?) in the far background would be nice! A friend of mine used to drive to a "good" place and put the dio on the car's roof for the photos! Unbeatable!!!

Cheers

Romain

Nevertheless, I love that composition!!! And those figures look fantastically realistic in both anatomy and poses!!!

Great show!!

Thanks for the additional photos Tim- the light outside shows off the painting in a much better war than the inside shots. Brilliant work- the story told through the figures in the dio is really excellent.

Hi,
such a great job. What kind of paints and colours did you use on the uniforms?

Cheers,
Tom

Hi-

I use a combination of Model Master and Humbrol enamels. That said, I have a few Model Master acrylic for painting really dark colors over light colors--stuff like that.

For the uniforms, I did a lot of mixing and matching of different colors ranging from Dark Earth to RAF Dark Green!

Weathering was usually a thinner wash, followed by a spray coat of flat clear and some drybrushing when everything was completely dry.

Cheers,

Tim W.

Excellent point about the setting. I need to look around for some more appropros background for this one. Maybe once winter comes to northern Virginia, I'll have more to work with!
