After building Italeri's sdkfz 7 demag, I swore never again. You are doing an excellent job, but paying extra for a newer kit is the way I choose to go.

PS- Nice build ! Wow that PE stuff looks kool...I would mess that up...I lack patience.

Thanks David, and yes that etch is really the shiznit. The Eduard set has something similar although not nearly as comprehensive if I recall correctly.

I have built that griffon set, can throw up some pictures later when I get home (So you can see how it looks when a intermediate PE enthusiast builds it... )

OK, here we go. I messed up the placement of the "shield" under the gearbox but everything else is roughly in the right place... The cables on the back of the gearbox is scratched:

I think that it could be a good idea to solder some of these joints rather than glue as I do (for strenght). After building this I actually got a small butane torch that I'm practicing with

Thanks Johan, I love all the extra detail too. Ordered one of these PE sets on line just today!

My build pre-dated the availability of the PE sets and the brand new molds created by Dragon so extra details on my D7 were either borrowed from other models or hand made from little bits and scraps of plastic.

Michael: Nice work. You should post your build in a new thread, to avoid confusion.

That's some fine work Michael, just goes to show what a little TLC can do for these kits. I'll echo the others and say you should get a separate thread going to give your build the attention it deserves and maybe a chance for others to share detail tips and so on?
