All it's missing is a crew to accompany the model. Cold War modelers will be happy. It's about time Dragon releases a non WWII German subject.+

I'll wait for the 1/35th scale version. To go alongside my Leopold.

The cost for the 1/35 version will be around 200.00 US dollars. The 1/72 version is 75.00 US dollars

Wow! What next? A Soviet Kondensator? The FROG range of rockets? Honest John? Corporal et al?
These would be attractive in 1:72 - in 1:35 sensational!
Despite the cost I'd be up for any of these; even in 1:72 this will be a winner I reckon.

By the CAD renderings it looks to be greatly simplified. For example, while they mention that the gun can be elevated it does not look like the platforms can be lowered or the loading tray extended.
We'll have to see what comes out.

WAIT A MINUTE HERE !!!!!
By looking at the artwork, the CAB of the truck is 2 feet by 4 inches too wide.
This is NOT an atomic annie accurate representation. Sure it MAY look like it, but alas, it is not ! Im just gonna start to wait till someone else can do this correctly !!
If its missing 20 bolts, than this was a horrible mistake.
Jeez.....glad I was here to help all you out before making a cash down payment.

Admittedly the CAD renders look about as detailed as the Renwal kit.
If only the Adams/Life-like kit could be re-released. It was better detailed than the Renwal.
Will Dragon so an M53/M55 sp next?

Also remember the CAD drawings are about 4 times the size of the parts that will be in the kit, and what is seen has to be molded in 1/72. And remember in 1/72 scale, if you can see the rivet on the kit, it is already out of scale.

You may think I'm being unnecessarily picky, but I'm not talking about minute details or issues of sizing or scale.
For example, there is an image showing the gun elevated with the tractors attached. Not only couldn't it be transported that way but the gun could not go from travel to fire mode without detaching the tractors. The poster says the gun can be shown emplaced, but what good is that if you can't show the crew platforms - which were lowered early in emplacement because they blocked access or were needed to operate various controls - dropped down?
The CAD model is very simplified. Like I said, we'll have to see whether or not that's how the model turns out.

Will it be possible to do it at maximum elevation with the gun recoiled several meters into the ground as it actually was during a firing exercise in West Germany?
In 1/72 it'll fit on the shelf with some room to spare.

Not sure where you got that, but it isn't consistent with design of the weapon or it's specifications. The breech did not go below the bottom of the carriage during recoil. (Per the Technical manual, the maximum recoil was at 55-degrees elevation and was only 42 inches. The entire upper carriage recoiled though, a design taken from the Germans.) The carriage could be raised and balanced on the turntable and swung around to any azimuth desired, then lowered onto the float. A gear sector on the float allowed fine azimuth adjustment. Digging a pit under the breech at each azimuth would defeat the purpose of the rapid traverse.

I got it from a veteran who was on the range when it happened. He was an armor instructor on the transition from M48A2 to M60's. The recoil locks had not been set and when the cannon fired it recoiled into the ground.
A German contractor came in with earth moving equipment to dig it out. The bemused German contractor who didn't care what it was so long as he was paid.
I also heard it from an M103 tanker who was in the area on exercise. Maybe it's a fish story but it'd make a funny diorama.
It goes with the general theme of what an old first sergeant told me "sure it's new and high tech but is it soldier proof?" Soldiers can and will find a way to break anything.

Ah, so it was an accident, not normal usage. Certainly possible in that case.

Dragon already boxed a M26 Pershing. Twice in fact. So did Tamiya and Hobby boss and probably a couple more I don't know about.

He means a Pershing 1A missile, not the tank.
