Hi everyone, I'm looking at a new project, 1/35, Ukrainian armour, but need some guidance please. Firstly the predominant Ukrainian Army MBT (?) , I take it that the Ukrainians use mainly T-64's but (silly questions and really I have no idea) what types? (BV, B etc). Any other armour they are using or have been using? Any help greatly appreciated.
Quite honestly this is a new area for me as I have never modelled Russian or Ukrainian or any 'eastern' bloc vehicles or armour.
Any suggestions of kits to start with as its been a wee while since I have done any modelling, but I see Trumpeter, SKIF, have T-64, but any suggestions, help on kits and after market parts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Tim

For the T-64's, forget Skif kits, Trumpeter is the way to go. Maybe some day they reléase a BM or a Bulat...
For T-80's, Trumpeter T-80 BVD is the choice until someone releases a new T-80UD -old kits such as Skif or Dragon are awful and innaccurate-.
Other interesting tank is the Oplot, I recall that X-act Scale Models announced one but still no news about it.

The Ukranian Army fields mostly T-64's either BV or B models from photos I have seen. Trumpeter's T-64BV kit is the only T-64 kit that is accurate for the war as the other Trumpeter kits are no longer in service without upgrades and Skif kits are best left ignored. Other accurate kits in plastic that I have seen pictures of in use would be:
Panda Hobby's BMD-1
Zvezda's BMD-2
Trumpeter's BTR-80, 2S19, 2S3, BM-21
Xact Scale's or Meng's GAZ Tiger (only seen with Russian forces during occupation of Crimea)
ICM's ZIL-131
I am sure there are more as both sides have used whatever is available.

Hello,
where have you seen the T-72s?
The only T-72s which I saw were in the news: http://www.tagesspiegel.de/medien/falsche-bilder-bei-der-ard-zum-ukraine-konflikt-propagandatricks-oder-pannen-in-serie/10637680.html
The original photos were taken in 2009 during russian exercises. Later they were used to demonstrate the "russian invasion" of the Ukraine under the observation of the media. With other words, I know only of fielding fake T-72s.
Cheers
