Frenchy,
Actually, this is a hybrid vehicle, part M54 rebuild. It's one of 3 built for MSC-K Korea (Material Support Command-Korea), and it's owned by the 20th Support Group which is responsible for most base operations in the southern half of South Korea. I commanded the 20th Support Group from 2000-2002, and have a photo of one of these from the front end that works in the port of Pusan (if I could figure out how to upload it I would). The boxes at the rear are concrete ballast and sand for traction (the sand uses tubes to sand the rails, just like locomotives do). These vehicles are used for shunting rail cars form the Korean Rail lines onto the military installations of Pusan and Waegwan Korea (Pusan Port and Camp Carroll). To my knowledge, they are the only 5-ton US-Army rail conversions in Asia, and likely in the US or Europe. I've always wanted to build a conversion like this, but there are no M54 kits (without costing an arm and a leg), and its difficult to find 1/35 scale RR wheels. Interiors are standard M54.
Very Respectfully, Russ

Hi Russ

Thanks a lot for the first-hand information I've tried to find another view in vain...
