Revell USS Consitution built around 1990 while I was at Ft Bragg. Took about a year!! Ocean is plaster,model cut at waterline and given full rigging. Wish I had used a backdrop.

That's real nice Jerry I always wanted to build on of those sailing ships mabe one day I will , neat water effect.

Holy Crap, Jerry!

That looks quite nice. Doing all that rigging must have been maddening:)

I really like it.

At the occupational therapy clinic here they have some ship models that require you to do the rigging and stuff. They tried to get me to make one but there is no way I could make one to come close to what yours looks like.

Thanks guys,for the super nice comments. James,you should give rigging a try. It makes you concentrate very hard and takes your mind off everything else. It is also great for keeping finger dexterity. Surgeons like to practice tie fishing lures sometimes to help with that. It's good practice for them.
Every spar on this beast had about 3 or 4 dozen knots involved.

I don't know if I'd be able to do the rigging right now. Between some TBI issues and my right hand and arm having problems, those things will have to be fixed first before I attempt anything like this. Currently I have to use this contraption thing we designed at the OT clinic so I can paint without losing hold of my brushes. It kind of sucks but I have been learning to adjust my techniques.

Wow Jerry!

You probably tied more knots on this ship model than I've tied in my six years of Hobie Cat sailing! I yield to your starboard tack ... oh wait! ... did you yell starboard or larboard?! ... Anyway, Hobie's are much faster and I would just duck under your bow, startling all those on board. LOL!

I believe some of the older salts used larboard instead of port. Or starboard,can't remember which but they did use larboard for sure.

Well hello Jerry ,

yes i'm back brother and i'm checking this one out .

A beautiful build of the ship and the water effects are quit convincing (i mean the sea ). The bow wave ? Or what ever the exact word in English is , is simply stunning.

Thanks Kurt,you are correct,it is "bow wave",that works and this vessel does have treads. It is the amphibious Old Ironsides which was made by a complete refit of the original ship circa 1952. The treads are underwater and so,sadly,can't be seen.

It is very easy to find, Simply click on the Light Blue Button on the far left side of the Black strip at the top of the page where it says Kit Maker Network. You will have a bunch of different Buttons pop up. Click on the one on the far right that says Model Shipwrights.

I don't see anything for dioramas, you should click on forums on that site and post under the ships by class, then select the sailing vessels box.
