I have this kit as well, but AFV club did make one small error there should be no blast shields on the front fenders.
You have a number of options to fix them, you could get the new Voyager Detail set which does give you the option of not adding the blast shields or pick up the Inside the Armour Detail Set which also gives you a new front fender section in resin without the blast shields.
The Blast shields were added to protect the fenders when the gun was firing over the track horns. Something not possible with the gun carrier.

The Inside the Armour detail set for the Gun Carrier corrects this issue.

The Gun Carrier wasn't fitted with the blast plates at the rear either as depicted in the kit.
