hi all
im going to be starting on my coverup dio very soon and am going to be basing it around the battle of the bulge. the dio will feature a sherman & us infantry advancing past some abandoned german positions and dead. my problem is the dio is giong to be sloped, and im not sure what to use to bulk out the main body of the dio in order to place a small fire trench roughly in the middle but to one side. any suggestions would be brilliant!
cheers for now

Expanded polystyrene is what i use. If you have any electrical stuff they always come packed in this stuff. Its bulky and light. Glue it in place with white glue as ordinary glues will melt it. If you dont have any at home go to any electrical store and they will be glad to get rid of some.
One of the best step by step sites on the web is Docīs Dios .
Check through it for some great tips. In his how to do dioramas there is a raise the ground page where keith shows how to build up some height using this polystyrene. I recommend building up the sides as well with balsa sheets for a better finish. Link to "raise the ground"

If I understand your question right you, and please correct me if I'm wrong, you are looking for somthing to make the ground work slope. If this is correct then I would use foam insalation. [ spelling ? ] Its sold by the sheet, I've bought it at Wal-mart before but any hardware or home improvement store should also carry it. It can be cut to shape, layered etc. I hope this helps
