I've always been tempted by those Alpine 1/16th kits and am thinking of buying and constructing this for my dad for Christmas. Is it as good as it looks? Goes together well?

Alpine figures have very good fit. There's very little flash to remove and the casting plugs are well placed.

They are one of the best in the market having bought 1/16 from other brands.
