Hi everyone, concurrently to the Dorchester mini dio and the "Advance threw Normandy" Dio I'm also going to make a little base for the Tamiya 25pd Field Gun. Nothing Fancy just a basic base for the Gun to sit on.
This is the progress so far.
The gun and trailor. (Needs weathering)
Two of the figures that are nearly completed.
Just need to wait till my Vellajo Thinning Medium comes threw then take the egde of the red then somehow give them a tan or sunburn lol

Lookin good brother! Nice paint so far. I can't believe those old Tamiya figgies though. Back in the day,I used to think they were so so nice and cutting edge and everything. Now we have been spoiled by all the new ;plastic stuff and brilliant sculpting from world renowned artists.
So the fact that you made something nice here from these old guys really says something about your skills.

You could get the 25pdr gun crew from Bronco Models as replacements, much nicer figures.

Not together with the Tamiya crew, IMHO!!!
It would only emphasise their flaws (as stated above....hands like ping pong rackets, etc).
But it's your decision of course!!
Cheers

What Romain said!! He is almost always right!
Don't throw those old Tamiya figs away though. I have found the large hands make very good gloved hands for winter figs if you ever decide to convert some figs( and you will eventually go to the dark side)!!

Well with the chaos of leaving the RAF and trying to sort my house out with my girlfriend I have had hardly any time to get anything done. Managed to start a lot but not get many finished. So I am cracking on with the 25pdr and making a little base for it. Used air drying clay I made a small base. Should have made it bigger I should have but hey it'll work lol
Once that had dried I gave it a coat of Humbrol 93 as a base colour.
I have now also smothered it in sand but forgot to get any pictures of that messy stage but I'll get some tomorrow I will.
Need to do a little touch ups on the sand and then add some little grassy shrubs and re-engrave the indentations where the gun and figure fit.
After that its back to painting and weathering the gun and figures.

Good afternoon everyone, well managed to do a little bit more to the base. Found out that adding sand to the base looses all the marks I'd made on the base, however thank god for photos lol.
So here's a few images of the progress.
Firstly I sorted the figure out to get rid of the deep red shadow lines using some thinned out Vellejo paints. Need to add some tan to him now.
After two coats of sand the base is almost complete. From there I made the indentations on the base for the gun and trailer to sink into.
That's all for now. Will be adding some grass and small rocks to the base then off to finish the people, stick it all together and I'm done.
Thanks for viewing!!!
