doing a post zombie apoc. scene where the undead are trying to knock down a fence to get into a survivors compound but I need to know what kind of material would I use to make the fence

insect screen mesh if you need a large, or a lot of fencing .
Just hold it diagonal and cut to size. Use thin metal wire to cap the top and bottom of the chain link
For smaller bits I think there are some good photo etch sets out there.
Of course I can't remember any of them by name now.

I've heard that tulle (bridal veil mesh) works well.
Should be able to find a variety at the local craft store.

something that's around .06" spacing between the "wires" would be pretty close, either insect screen or tulle (from a fabric shop).

Tulle works great, I've been using it for chain link of eons (well, the last 30+ years). Buy a yard and you'll have plenty. Don't be surprised if you get raised eyebrows when you buy it though...

Tulle wins! I've used it too. It's stiff enough to support itself and when painted, looks like the real thing.
