Hi group
My next Sherman build is the famous M4A1 "Major Jim"
1. Who can help me with the vehicle number ? I need to know if it had the rounded rear plate, like only LLW Lima Locomotive Works and PFC Pacific Car and Foundry made them.
2. What versions of transmission cover did it have?
3. Does anyone have good pictures of the two rear plates the covered the air filters?
4. Am I right when I assume that the mud camouflage was hastily painted on with a brush and NOT airbrushed on, on a stripped and taped vehicle?

Hello Bobber ... ok i can answer some of your questions ..
1 ..The camo is brushed on mud ..the watered down the mud into this gravy like soup and then just brushed it on all over the place .
2,,The transmission cover is the three piece bolted one .
This link will help you out a lot i think .

Hi Bobber,
Check out this "Major Jim" build article by Steve Zaloga, I think he is spot on with all the details about the tank, with maybe just the paintjob being too clean for mud smeared over the tank.

Edit: Phill beat me to it
Cheers,
Greg
