After viewing the Mack NO photos (thank you Ken), and then Pawel's excelent article on the his M923A1 updates, I started thinking - How difficult would it be to use the Italieri Big Foot kit as a basis to kitbash/scratchbuild a reasonable facimile of a Mack NO? I'm not going for 100% accuracy, but something that would be convincing in a diorama. I think that the frame and the cargo box at least could be used as a base, with scratchbuilt cab and other specific details.
What do other Armorama readers think?
And, of course, if it can be done and I actually start building, some manufacturer will then mold one.
Thanks,
Dave

ADV/Azimuth offered a resin Mack NO a few years back. I don't know if it is still available.

Sounds doable to me. Simmilar to converting AFV M35 Cab and Italeri M923 Chasis and bed to make an M54 truck. I have done it, its not too difficult. If you have good drawings, (thanks to Mack Museum) it shouldn't be too hard. I am doing a simmilar project right now on the M123A1C Mack 10-ton tractor. Insread of the bigfoot M923 kit, I would try to find the M925 or M925 Shelter truck kit. These have the proper tire set-up and you could probably use the tires/wheels on the Mack NO as well. You need to ask either Gunny or Animal their opoinions, they are the resident truck conversion experts here.

from what I have been told this kit is a piece of expensive junk.
what you propose is quite do-able mate.
BUT BE WARNED....you will do it once and be hooked for good into scratchbuilding complicated models such as this.

Is this a resin conversion kit or scratch build? If a scratch build or heavy conversion what is the donor kit used for the start?
By the way Welcome to Armorama Dave. I am not too sure that you could use much from the M-1923 shelter kit to make this model. I will have to research and look for more photos to see but the tires would be wrong for this era. Lets hope that Gunnie gets in on this one with his knowledge.

Hi,
The Mack NO on the pics is the Azimut kit.
I've some problems with the rigidity of the front axle. I does rebuild it totaly.
Cheers.

Thank you for the welcome! :-) And thank you to everyone who has replied.
I figured the wheels and tires would be incorrect if used as is from the M923/M925, but I am hoping the frame, axles, running gear, and the bed could be used as a starting point. I haven't looked any farther than that.
Thanks again,
Dave

Oh very cool. Thank you for posting this! I still haven't started my Mack NO project yet, life has just gotten into the way of accomplishing much modelling, but I still want to give it a go.
