Any of our Far Easterners see any sign of the newly announced Trumpeter M1 Panther kits? I'd like to build one of those things. I guess it frees up another of my old Tamiya M1 kits.

What Is the M1 Panther ? A version of the US M-1 that has a new name or a totally different vehicle.

I am going to a trade fair this week, trumpeter had their booth there last year, I am sure they will this year too. I will keep my eyes open on it.

Last year in the show, they already displaying the first tool off sample for the 1/16 T34, I am surprised that its not in the market as of now. Whilst the F105s last year was just renderings in the catalogue, is now for sell.

It is basically a turretless M1IP chassis that pushes a mine roller. The crew can dismount and control the vehicle remotely. I am unsure of where the "Panther" name comes from, but I believe the engineer school has been leaning towards North American predator names such as Grizzly, Wolverine, and now Panther.

FYI a North American Panther is a Cougar as opposed to the Black Panther: a large powerful tawny brown cat (Felis concolor) formerly widespread in the Americas but now reduced in number or extinct in many areas; called also catamount, mountain lion, panther, puma.

Cool, a panther. Now a trumpeter M1 kit that does not need its turret reworked!

As for the 1/16 T-34/85 it should be released soon (first half of 2004) according to the industry buzz. I am hoping they come out with the 1/24 fire pumper this year.

Grrrrr Just started to convert a trumpeter M1 into the Panther a few weeks ago.
Oh well, It's nice to see something different for a change. #:-)
Considering Trumpeters prices I think I will stop the conversion !

The trumpeter booth is rather small this year, I almost missed it. #:-)

Unfortunately they didn't show the panther nor the T34 which is odd, because as of last year, they have a something like assembled tool off sample for the T34 displayed, but not this time around. The only armor piece they had shown is a Chinese self propeller artillery thing.

They did however showcased a box art of an 32nd P40.

DML's booth is equally not too exciting, lots of Manbies, tons of braile stuff. They have some 144th armor that I think will soon hit the market, that need assembly, and is white metal with PEs.

Some 144th scale modern armor stuff as well that is prepainted and assembled.

That's all from the show.

PS. both trumepter and DML's booth don't have attractive looking girls as some of the die cast companies, so I spent more time looking at cars.

It looks like we are going to get TWO kits of M1 Panther II vehicle this year!

Trumpeter and Dragon are going to repeat their "Leopold" adventure releasing their own versions of the same subject at the same time.

I've found this information on ML forum:
http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/message?forumid=47208&messageid=1074202622

Note Dragon's D3534 kit.

Word on the streets is that Trumpeter is majorly cutting back on its "enthusiastic announcments" until it is just about ready to ship kits mainly because someone else (DML) keeps trying to beat them to the punch...Leopold, Krivak, now the Panther II...

Not that I'm complaining, keeps the drool at a lower level...
