Hi Gang,
I wonder if Kinetics MaxxPro kit could be done with scratchbuilt EFP armor or are the EFP armored trucks a different version(MaxxPro plus?)?
If yes, what are the differences the MaxxPro versions?

Hi H.H.

Here's the Maxxpro :

and here's the Maxxpro Dash. It has a shorter wheelbase (145 vs 153 inches):

I'll let you spot the differences between the two variants

The Maxxpro Plus is easier to ID as it's fitted with dual rear wheels.

If you want to use the Kinetic kit, here's a Maxxpro with MEAP armor (the add-on armor kit differs from the one fitted to later variants) :

The MEAP (=MRAP Expedient Armor Program) armor is manufactured by Hardwire Armor Systems :

All these kits replicate the original Maxxpro.

Hey H.-P.
thanks for clarification. I think the MEAP thing will be it, but I still have to work on my USAF TACP one.

I assume you have all the photos references you need, but if you don't,(or anyone else) my walkaround has extensive photos of the armor and the mounts, taken from every conceivable angle.

Now that you mention it... I only got your first CD, so any other reference is highly appreciated. I have to wait for Voyagers PE set first, but I contact you then. Thanks

I just checked the pics of the M-ATV rollover simulator and now I wonder if the frame could hold other MRAP cabins like MaxxPro or Cougar? Defintly an alternative for using MRAP kits while avoid building the sometimes crappy suspensions.

HOLY CRAP am I honored....Frenchy used not only MY GUNTRUCK, but my picture of my guntruck!!! LOL......

The Maxx Pro Plus (dual rear wheel) with the MEAP and wire mit kit on it was my steed during convoy security missions in 2009-10. Wire kit was pvc piping tied to mahogany boards bolted to the side of the vehicle....LOL.

Thanks Frenchy!!! for some reason its a big deal to see Nighthawk 1-2 being referenced

This is the other end of the aisle of Nighthawk Element... different truck, same picture set.

Heres a lineup before a convoy... could be a cool Dio..

from the gunners seat

The + model was notorious for rolling over, mostly because I think the rear axle. Once they put the Tak 4 suspension package on them I beleve they rolled over alot less.

I have actually been in the Maxx Pro AND M-ATV rollover simulators at Ft. Carson. The was a HWMMV setup as well. I BELIEVE they were all the same basic framework. Too bad I was loaded down with all my other crap to have taken my camera with me on that day. I'll bety if you Google it you can see if the frames arethe same or not. If you DO decide to do one on the M-ATV, I hope you find those photos helpful

Hans-Hermann

The simulator framework looks to be the same indeed :

MaxxPro :

Cougar 6x6 :

http://www.dvidshub.net/image/1181635/nmcb-25-mrap-rollover-training#.VGj2QjSG_Aw

MET info :

http://www.hood.army.mil/tsc/TSC%20Catalog/Supporting%20Files/55-Transportation/55-66.pdf

PS : an image search for "MRAP MET" yields some nice pics

The bars are actually PVC Pipe, attached to pieces of wood. The purpose is to take power lines and pick them up over the gunners shields so that the gunner is not decapitated or electrocuted. It was home built by the mechanics in the motor pool, and it worked fantastically.
They are attached to the wood by pieces of 550 cord, or banding steel, or whatever the mechanics had. The wood is then bolted onto the vehicle somewhere. the pieces of wood are bolted in a couple of spots so that they stand up straight and dont fall over. The pipe was connected to the front bumper by a piece of rebar that was welded in place.

Hi Guys,
thanks for the replies, I think I will consider the M-ATV rollover rig an option. I still have both Kinetic and Panda M-ATV and I am hesitant to figgle around with the suspension.
I thimk I continue with a MAXXPRO MEAP after I finish my MAXXPRO USAF TACP.
H.-H.

P.S. Would any model company consider doing a RG-33 or Caiman kit???

Looks like Kinetic may have a RG-33 in the pipeline (but I guess the pipeline is rather long ) or maybe they've changed their mind...

Thank you for reply, that give a special look to the MaxxPro. I've seen this system on other MRAP vehicles in Tankograd book about MRAP. If I'm right, this system is used instead of wire cutters.

I just started my Kinetic MRAP kit and noticed that one part was received with factory damage. Step 4 part number E2. Unable to contact manufacture via email ([email protected] or web site kineticmodel.com)...

Any suggestions on how to remedy this broken part?

Its hard to duplicate do to various different angles...

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

There may be a SOCOM RG-33 as well. Only one pic I've seen on the net. Except for mine of course.
