Well, I have finally finished this. It was a lot of fun......took quite a few hours. One disappointment was that I could not find any acrylic rods or clear stirrers to mount the plane on....oh well, if I come across some I can always add them.....(more pics in gallery

Thanks- the plane is a Revell kit, Focke Wulfe FW190f-8; also a Tamiya multi-gun carriage, and an Italeri 105mm Howitzer

Same here! Hope you find some rods to make your dio work properly. How did you do the propeller? Is it photoshop? The trees are perfect, except for that little one at the front. Some parts look like they have fallen down/off. Would love to see some close-ups of the figures and vehicle and gun! The dio looks great, but for once the real grass doesnt suit, it makes the ground work look barren. Nice one boosahmer... artillery, vehicle, figures and aeroplane all in the one dio ...... looks like a lot of work!

thanks, plasticbattle....the propeller was done by cutting out 3 cone-shaped pieces of clear plastic and glueing them to the prop edges. A few lines with black marker to simulate movement, and ...Voila!

Looks great, i agree it would look 100% if it only had some clear rods, this is just an idea, why not out the rods inside the trees to make them a bit more hidden? this would work really well if you had the clear rods, cheers

hi Robert,
your diorama looks great.we all agree on the only problem is the rods holding the plane. Clear rods surely would be better, but I have another idea. You can use 1 thick rod instead of 3 rods and hide the most of this rod using one of the trees. Cover the rod with the branches of the tree or something like that.

i Believe that maybe with just one rod maybe the plane would not be sitted well. Further more is good that you altered the plane attacking angle , from first time pictures that it was about to crash!! its a nice idea and a nice dio . The propeller effect is looking nice and overall is a nice entry. My congratsulations

Two possilbe work-arounds.... if you can't find clear rod...

1) creat a frame and suspend the plane from the top of the frame using monofiliment. This wouldn't break-up the perception as much

2) use a single rod inserted throught the rear/tail of the plane... at least that way the other two rod's could be removed. This might not be possible to afix now that the plane has been completed, but worth the thought!
