Hi all,

I am currently building a Roden Kraz 214 Cargo Truck and have spent quite a while sorting the cargo bed. It was absolutely covered in sink marks so I sanded off all the raised detail and filled the dips with Mr Surfacer 500. After a rub down to get it all flat, I glued 11 strips of 0.5 x 1mm strip. It looks so much better now but I have raised a question in my mind?

What is the floor on this truck made of? Is it pressed steel or are the 11 ribs actually wooden battens?

Cheers

Here's the cargo bed of a KrAZ-255B :

I guess it's the same as the 214 one...

Thank you very much Frenchy. You answered that question with one picture there....

I don't think I'll be attempting the bent and battered look though...

It's your build but it's almost screaming for some real wood planks in there, or a solid sheet of balsa wood cut to show the individual planks. I can't believe they would allow to have sink holes on the good side.

Either that or I do know there are some simulated woodgrain styrene sheets out there.

Please, do show us what you come up with.

Hi Jeff

I guess the cargo bed floor is made of steel, not wood, this would explain the corroded/rusty look in the picture above....

Note the planks have a wave in them too.

Loving the humour here guys!!

I'll post some pics of the build here soon if you like?? If you know the Roden kit, you'll know the fight I'm in at the moment. It's nearly finished, but boy oh boy, this kit needs some work!!

Still, it's still more fun than shake and bake!!
