Here's one I started for a Campaign, and shockingly never finish...
Finally making some progress now the new workshop is done.
It's going to be a lifted Humvee w/ armor.

A "raised" Humvee is not too far-fetched what-if idea Tom. Oshkosh did propose one previously:

Nice tidy work you have done so far....will follow with interest.

I LIKE IT!
And the fact that there was an actual prototype vehicle seals the deal.
Are you gonna go with the stock tires or maybe you could find a resin set made for a MaxPro or something?

Thanks Sean.
I saw that photo when I was doing research for my build - very inspiring.
Thanks Michael.
Stock tires or something scratched. I run a very low budget operation - LoL
And some new work - Seats. OTB units alittle cheesy for this unit.

I'm sure if you ask nice on here someone who has done an M-ATV, Maax-Pro or one of the new trucks and got the resin wheel sets for there build, would be willing to part with the origional kit wheels & vinal tyres. Folks around here are nice like that. Being raised it really needs the larger wheels....

Thanks Sean, I'll give it a try.
If anyone has some wheels they don't want PM me.
Continuing on - Sincgars 1439 Radio...
What is should look like (for discussion purpose only)...

And my version...

Needs cables - looking for right size wire.

Seats done, set them in to see how the new & improved version fits. AC duct in too.
Radio... almost there (currently up to 27 parts - LoL)...

I haven't been on the site for awhile after we moved. So probably a lot of folks don't know this is about 6 months of work at my normal, glacial pace of building !
Sooo slowwww...

Pretty good job on the SINCGARS. The radio itself is too long though. It should be flush with the front of the mount.

Gino, You are spot on w/ that. Now I look at it - I set the radio out where the grab handles should be...
I tried to pull it apart but NoGo, so now it's the "new & improved" version.

Thanks Stephen - I did see yours (OUTSTANDING by the way) and it was a big inspiration & motivator for me to get off my butt and build...
Mine is mild compared to all the work you did.
I'm having trouble finding the right sized / look for the wheels.
Any suggestions?

Soo...
I could not find wheels that I liked. What to do in 2014 you ask? I 3D Print them at Shapeways of course.
Not full wheels, these are just "skins" for the existing parts. The ID of this fits over the OD of the kit wheels. Little super glue, little putty = new bigger, fatter, manly wheel ! LoL
This went against all (self-emposed) rules for this build (to spend any money)! But got to have wheels...

Due in the 12th +/-. My first 3D Printed Part - hope it does not suck.

Assuming that I could figure out how to create the necessary computer file using my CAD program, might I ask what it costs (approximately) to run off four of these parts?

If you ordered them in anything other than "polished", Frosted detail or Frosted ultra detail, they'll have a grainy appearance which paint may or may not help.
I've only been making parts available in the FD and FUD in my Shapeways store unless the item is larger.

Hi Tom
Great build so far... yea the wheels i used on mine were from A M923 Resin set i had spare. If your printed parts fit ok they should look the part...should be able to keep the HUMVEE wheel detail as well.

Why - It's actually not that high (24 - 30 scale inches to the door frame).
Michael - five were just shy of $18 (including shipping).

Matt - I got Super Strong & Flexible (polished). Any good? I have a backup plan if there not smooth...
Thanks Stephen - I could not find the size I need so this was the only way. Thinking it's going to work.

Wheels in, just skins (you can see the orig. under the wrap).
Kind of rough, though it would look good on a tyre.
Don't know, might seal them / smooth it out some. Half painted to see how it might look.

Little (very) more work on interior. Finished painting / weathering, roof & back window done too. Radio & Computer in.

And some S/B detail, an old LBE to hang over a seat.

Not much done - Feel's like I'm slowing down to my lazy place again... I'll blame it on the weather - LoL !

Tyres Done...
FYI - This process to build up wheel size was not the greatest idea. Took forever, did not save any money, looks OK... Was an experiment - would NOT do it again.
Assembled & Fill / Putty

Primed

Painted

Moving on to windows, added lite tint.
