Model manufacturers tend to ignore anti-slip coating on their modern vehicle offerings and inventive modelers had to devise different techniques to replicate those in scale... This review provides a description of a product from Pro Art Models which could help in recreating realistic anti-slip surfaces.

Good review. I have tried a number of materials with no particular satisfaction, so I'm curious about this solution.

So to "apply" you just drop some on the masked off area and shake the excess off?

Yes, "sprinkle" the powder onto the area and after couple of minutes shake the excess off. Of course, practicing on some scrap models would be wise.

Mario, what is the practical difference between this solution and using fine sand sprinkled on (white) glue?

I read somewhere that chinchillas has a powder that they dust themselves in , and is available in pet stores , it works to simulate the anti skid coatings . Drawback is it comes in a big container .

Just use Tamiya Diorama Texture Paint "Grit Effect", I use the Light Sand color and after it's dry, I paint my model as usual.

Well to start with, sand doesn't come with a warning saying that it reacts strongly with water releasing noxious fumes...

Great review, thank you!

I like the results you're getting with this product, very realistic.

Cheers,

Christophe
