Hi,

I've been searching for some time, even with the Japanese name of the tank and can't come up with any credible photos of the real tank with skirt fitted (they were rarely fitted apparently), only photo I find has a 120mm gun on and I think it's a Photoshop job?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Christophe

Hi Christophe

Did you see that on Wikipedia ?

"In 1993 four Type 74's were improved to the new Type 74 Kai (改) [Type 74 mod G (G型)] standard, adding a passive infrared camera, side skirts, and so on. The upgrade proved to be extremely expensive, and the program was dropped.". You may have a hard time finding such pics...

Anyway here's a small one that looks like a vidcap :

Thanks!

Couldn't see the pic, until I "quoted" your post and copied/pasted the photo in my browser's window, it's really great to see one at last.

There are quite a few photos of those tanks actually, which are probably still in service, it's just that the skirts never seem to be fitted for some reason...

Cheers,

Christophe

This vidcap picture is apparently from a Japanese magazine called Panzer :

A few features of the upgraded Type 74 (this means some "G" features have been retained contrary to what Wikipedia article implies...) :

Thanks again, yeah Panzer included a DVD with some of their issues, might actually have that one, I'll have to check.

Cheers,

Christophe
