Got the kit today....
It looks great... and it looks like a lot of work.... I just hope I've got the time to finish it with the rest for Operation Abrams ID...

I just built the AFV M-88 kit. It was fairly easy to build, went pretty much OOB (substitued wire for some of the string pieces). Builds into a very impressive kit

Yes indeed, great kit.
I've built 2 myself. The first one was painted NATO Tri color and has the MR Models interior in it and the second one(almost finished) is in fact converted into the M88A2 Hercules using the Real Models conversion kit.
Is it the Vietnam boxed version or the Modern boxed version or is even the Revel of Germany version?
Does it have the workable tracks? If not, may I suggest getting some from AFV, They are nice and make a little bit of a difference, plus the photo etch set from Eduard adds something to the kit too.
BLASTER76,
Speeking of tracks, I DIDNT FORGET YOU!!!!!!!! Did the workable tracks come out ok or do you still want the rubber band ones??????????

Hey, Epi,
What was your opinion of the MR models M-88 A1Interior...? Was it good and worth the money...? Any problems making it fit. How much could you see through the open hatches?
Last question for all: would the M88A1 Interior pass for an M88 Interior...?
Thanks, dudes.
Aloha,
Johnny B.

Johnny,
With all those hatches open, you deffinately see the interior. I had no problem with the interior. I got it when it first came out, so the quality was good. Who knows now, The molds do degrad. IT WAS WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!!!!
There might be a slight difference in the interiors of the M88 and M88A1. Ask ROB(SABOT) this question. He might know!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the set and it is very nice... the interior could be seen when the hatches are open, but not as much as I'd like it to; I was even thinking of putting two small LEDs inside the vehicle however that project is waiting for better days.

The Nam version of AFV M88 thet i have unbuild seems to be a very nice kit lots of details and parts and i believe a general good quality. When i ll start the building i ll know more. But from what i ve read around in the net is one of very good kits.

Eduard PE set for M88 is out of production for quite some time, so it is very hard to get now. I have not seen Real Models conversion set for M88A2, but my experience with their other products is rather bad And I read that M88A2 conversion is inaccurate and it is easier to scratch built your own armor plates and other needed parts than correct Real parts, particularly considering $90 price tag.
You can get Real Models sets from Panzershop: http://www.panzershop.iol.cz/shopaj.htm

Pawel

YUP Jurgen, and I made the mistake of getting the Real Models M88A2 conversion and ended up chunking 3/4 of it away. Luckely I worked at a Hobby Store, so it didnt cost me that much. But anyways, I ended up making my own armor plates out of styren and just using the boom, front winch and track skirts from the kit.
Dont waste your money on the kit conversion!!!!!!!!
