Hi Gang,
while googeling for Caiman images, I found pics of a Caiman in NASA use. Now I wonder why an scientific organization uses ex-military vehicles. Perhaps for base security?

NASA used to use M113's for emergencies. Perhaps the Army is trying to recoup some of their costs on obsolete vehicles, rather than shoving them off into the ocean as they have with many the of the Maxx Pro Base models.

Hmmm.... Astronaut escape buses? Are there any 1/35 scale running astronaut figures?

No need to run...They'll use slidewire baskets like these :

Since I work for the agency, yes, the 113s were used for Astronaut rescue. I've been told they are NBC capable, but could find no definitive answer for that question. When preparing for launch, we would have to inspect the slidewire, the the bunkhouse where the Astronaut(s) would reside until the 'all clear' was given, and ensure the 113 was parked and supplied properly. Its purpose was to evac the Astronauts from the launch pads as quickly as possible to crew quarters or the 'fall back' area.
