I got this kit from a friend. It was already finished and broken in several places.I managed to upgrade the canon with hypodermic needles. The rest is OOB.I used tamiya and gunze acrylics to paint this model. The weathering was done using mig pigments and effects + oil colors.I made it look like a Russian Btr-80A that was used to sieze and secure Crimean peninsula earlier this year. That is why it has no markings on it.Saw some pics on the net and decided I should do it like this.

Enjoy the model

Hi Dragan- thats a great finish you've got on this BTR- the colors are excellent and the weathering is nicely observed too. I think making the barrel from a needle is a great idea. I just noticed the pioneer tools need to be painted though.

Hello guys. Thanks for the replies.I painted the searchlight and the rear lights.I saw that while croping the photos.I am still thinking of how to paint the tools.I am a aircraft modeller after all and this is not my main thing so I did not wanted to ruin the paintjob.I would also like to ask you guys how to fix the pigments on the wheels and the model itself without making a paste for simulating dry and wet mud. After I dust the wheels the mat cote eats up all the pigments and I am left with clean wheels. This is my biggest issue at this stage.

regards

Hi Dragan- if you are using pigments to simulate dust on the wheels then don't cover it with matt varnish afterwards as you will basically nullify the effect as you have discovered. You can simply put the pigments on and leave them there but if you want to 'fix' them down then some mineral spirit usually does the trick.

I mean the spirits you would use to thin oil paints. You can also get a dedicated 'Pigment Fixer' from some of the companies that produce pigments for modellers.
