I'm not a Sherman expert so I can help you alot. I live in Indianapolis and that is where the tank is from. The tanks name was LIBERTY it was owned by Fred Ropkey, who passed last year. I believe it is currently still in his museum http://ropkeyarmormuseum.com/index.html
I was able to talk to Fred as a kid about it. He had Liberty for all the close up and another tank he used to drive thru all the building and other scenes.

I'm not sure there is a 1/35 plastic kit of an early M4A3?

Anyway I did need such a hull for a M31A1B3 project and I used a Tank Workshop conversion for the Tamiya M4 early.

Sorry it's fairly rough job, done many years ago...

Sadly there are no "off the peg" early M4A3s out there. In 1:35 you either need to modify the Tamiya "M4 Early" kit (needs new engine deck & rear end stuff) or go with something like this M4A3 conversion from TMD. There's also the old MP Models plastic upper hull, but no matter what way you go there is some converting to do...

As mentioned, it's a dry-stowage M4A3. These were used as training vehicles in the USA, but at the time they were produced, the Army favored the Wright Continental, air cooled engine for overseas duty in combat zones (i.e. M4 and M4A1 only). The Army changed its mind at the end of 1943, but the M4A3 tanks that went overseas were nearly all new-production, wet-stowage models, with the 47-degree hull front and large hatches. The dry stowage tanks were returned to the factory for rebuilding as the training program wound down, and a few rebuilds appeared in Europe in 1945 as replacements following heavy losses in the Ardennes campaign. I've only seen two or three photos of them in Europe. Their use as training vehicles makes them extremely common as monument tanks around the USA, though, and some are operable collectors' vehicles, like the movie tank.
Over twenty years ago, MP models offered a styrene upper hull to mate to existing Tamiya or Italeri chassis, but it is hard to find now. Tamiya's M4 Early kit has the front end of an M4A3 or M4A4 (not an M4), so you could graft a Tamiya M4A3 engine deck and rear plate on to make a dry stowage version. Or you could go the resin route. I do hope somebody eventually offers a full kit in styrene, but who knows when?

It's not that hard to find. I've got 3 in my stash now!

If you wanted one PM me and we could work out a deal from Canada.

There has been a Sherman named Liberty in the Collings Collection since 2013. It's represented as being from the movie Tank.
