I am looking to start building a couple of M60 and M48 Patton tanks and was wondering if anyone can recommend a size of generic pe mesh for the turret baskets. I know that most after market pe sets include the sized mesh but I am looking for something I can size myself.
Also, when did the mesh get added to the Pattons? Would a Vietnam M48A3 have had mesh in the bustle rack? My references do not have pictures that clearly show.

Probably tulle (AKA wedding veil). $1.00 worth will last you a lifetime.

Second what Rob sys. I have had a 1/2 yard forever. It works and looks great too.
As to when the mesh was added, I don't think it was until the '70s, after Vietnam. I haven't seen any Vietnam era M48s with the mesh.

Thanks Gino and Robert. I have heard of the use of tulle, I will have to check the local craft store and see how it goes.

I revise my answer. Maybe some did have mesh in Vietnam. I have found two examples that look like they did.
M48A3 - mesh

11 ACR M48A3 w/mesh in country. (you my have to zoom in to see it, but its there.
