I am very new to model building and airbrushing in paticular. I purchased a mr hobby paint today as it was a special color I needed. I go to airbrush the paint, and it comes out very thick and textured. Almost like it is drying as soon as it leaves the airbrush. I use my tamiya acrylic thinner to thin it, and still it comes out textured. I have a badger 150 airbrush running at about 10-12 psi. What could be the problem? ??

Tamiya makes an acrylic paint retarder , if you can get some try that . Or you could go to any artist supply and get the retarder from there . That might help . Either that or the paint has gone bad .

I never used Mr.Hobby but this is just a test you can do.
Try using 70% - 99% rubbing alcohol to thin it. Try it...put a dab of paint on a piece of clear plastic, soak your brush with alcohol...mix it into the paint..if it breaks it up good..nice and uniform , blends & breaks up good...your set.
Next try water..if it breaks it up as well...then mix 80% alcohol with 20 % water as a thinning agent.

First try more thinner. Build the color up with multiple light thin coats.

I did primer, the paint seems to be clumping before it leaves the nozel, it comes out real slow, and clumps. Looks like spraying textured paint. I'm going to just buy another brand of paint as I don't want to have to clean my airbrush over and over again trying to find a solution. Plus I run on a large tank I have to take to my garage to fill.

Did you raise the Airbrush pressure ? I spray Mr Hobby at 18 psi . Any lumps in the paint ? And you did thin it with Tamiya X 20A ?

No.
GSI Aqueous Hobby color is best thinned with either X-20A or Mr Levelling thinner.
Mr Color on the other hand is lacquer based and needs to be thinned with Mr Levelling thinner or another similar lacquer thinner such as Tamiya lacquer thinner.
It is a bit confusing as they have similar names but are different, by by default you can thin either with Mr Levelling thinner.

After so many experiment, I find thinning Mr. Hobby with Methylated Spirit is the best way to go. It's like airbrushing heaven once thinned with methylated spirit.

#329 or H329?...
If it is H329, it is a Mr.Hobby Aqueous Hobby Color paint = acrylic
But if it is 329 then it is Mr.Hobby Color lacquer (not enamel).
To make it simple: if it says "Aqueous" on the jar, it is acrylic. If it doesn't, it is lacquer.
Both paints are gloss FS13538 yellow. The first should like the Tamiya acrylic thinner, the second not so much...

Add more thinner to the paint. Also you might try to spray from a shorter distance. The texture comes from the mixture drying before it reaches the surface, the reasons are as above.
