Major Goose,

Thatīs a nice truck! Which kit is it?
The basic paintjob on the truck is great, weathering and all. Especially the back part is very convincing. Groundwork looks well balanced and coloured. I would pay more attention to the framing, though. Building nice wood frames to cover the sides would make the vignette look a lot better.
The stuff on the hood looks kinda shiny and plastic-like. It may be the photos, may be low detail on the parts, but it just doesnīt look realistic to me. Are those items really attached to the car? Some more weathering with pastel chalks or something may help blending that stuff in the scene.

Are you going to put figures in there? Whatīs the story?

Thatīs really good going. Be sure to send more pics when you get some!

Cheers,
Toni

Really, really nice In fact, excellent!. Nice to see someone getting some mileage out of a very old kit..... Couple of comments though... It could be a little more 'loaded' for example more jerrycans (including some more racks) . I'm not entirely convinced by the various packs, the straps could do with a little more work. I notice you have used the Italeri 'accesory set' , you should find some more packs and stuff in there to add to the 'cluttered' feel those vehicles had. More 'personal' gear some webbing, belts or even personal weapons would be a nice touch... The palm tree looks really effective as well although perhaps a bit big? don't quote me on this, I am no botanist To finish it off you really need some figures to do it credit. What are you going to use? Overally a very nice and simple piece of work ( which always work better) NIce one! Jim

To tell you both the truth the base was just made to put on the vehicle which is the old Tamiya LRDG truck. As for the palm there is a point that some of them go over 30-50 meters high so ..i decided to make it bigger than usual cause simply there so big ones in nature. hanevt done any figures cause it was not going to be a dio but just a vehicle to show, but now you point this out....i look up to something. The straps could have been better indeed and some stowage will be added in the back side. the picture doesnt help the colours and indeed gives a shine look that is not on the real stuff. Thanks for the comments guys.

hi again bro,
This is one of my favorites for old Tamiya models.I see you built, painted and weathered it great. I like your way of detailing in all your models.Believing you like critics as much as the comments, i think it would be better to use aegean sea sand :-) as the ground texture to make a desert view. I liked the palm tree but try a thin trunk and more little leaves next time. lets talk about making palm trees ,I make them using paper tape and get satisfying results.
which figures will be in this dio?.....and just a little hint;building the dio base before the figures if it is not a street section or something like that causes some problems... footprints
best regards

Your judgement is always on the right point my friend. The palm tree was indeed made by toilet paper sunk in white glue, and having as a frame a thin plastic electrical cable. As about the leaves i believe that in the desert the only gardener is the wind so i thought to leave some more bigger leaves on as the weather was not to windy at this time (hehehehe joking).
Yep after making the base i also thought it would be better to use aegean sand. But in fact i tried to represent a rocky ground that i ve seen in an old desert war movie (can even recall the title)
Thanks for your points and as always are taken more seriously Engin

Very nicely done, the vehicle looks just right. I can only agree on the comments given. The thing i noticed where the straps around the blanket, especially the green one, in my opinion the should be in the same color as the straps from the yellow blanket. But it's just i minor thing. Keep up the good work!!

Yes very well done. Nice model.
happened to have picked one up at last Hobby lobby half off sale!
So again great build to an old good model who says Tamiya does not do things that last forever!! (++)

Nice Nice.... This really makes me want to pull mine out of the box and get building.

As for comments take these as constructive and as pointers for your next build.
From a diorama layout view the space opposite the truck is a bit big and empty. I would say to cut that out next time or you can fill it with a clump of bushes or rocks.
The truck is nice, good chipping, good detail, good drybrushing, good extra gear etc.
Really nit picky thing, the LRDG was based on speed and mobility. This means get in, get out quick. I would offer that they had tied down the tarps on the hood pretty well. I don't see any tie downs for them. The antenna is a bit thick.

You did a great job on the truck. It's good to see some of the oldies done right. I have one that I finished a year or so ago but havent weathered or added stowage yet. I may go back and open the stowage box as you did. A very nice touch.
Great work.

What the other guys said.
To enhance your straps, simply get some foil, masking tape, etc and cover the painted part so you get a bit more depth. Maybe toss them in the bed of the truck.
About the shark mouth on the hood...IMHO, it detracts from the historical feel of the model and if there were one painted on, it would have pointed in the other direction. As it is, the open end of the mouth is to the back of the truck.
Try to find som ammo boxes for your guns. In combat, those two guns will be dry very quickly and the gunner's going to want to be able to grab a new magazine right quick.

Major_Goose, I totally agree with all those here who have said how nice this model is. I've been working off and on our my own LRDG, more off than on since my wife decided to "improve it" with dusting. One thing I noticed about yours right away is the way you opened up the top of the storage locker at the front . I never thought of doing that. I just piled on Jerry cans of various types on it. I also agree that the straps don't quite look right holding the stuff down on the hood (bonnet?). You've got straps holding the folded material together but nothing holding it to the hood itself. Try strips of tin foil from a candy bar for that. I really like the paint job you did on the hood. I assume those red and black things are like eyebrows? I really like the overall job you did, the one thing I would change has been brought up before, more stuff in the back. Every picture of one of these vehicles I've seen of these vehicles has the back just crammed with extra gear, especially Jerry cans.
