I'm looking for 1/35 Technical Pickups with attached MG and Recoiless Cannon as an addition to my ODS diorama. Thanks!

BTW, was it still used in OIF?

Too bad it isn't the Technical in my mind. I was hoping for this.

I saw that kit at my local shop. It is just the Trumpeter BJ121A Chinese Jeep with recoilless rifle. I have the kit, it is very nice. Probably the best Trumpeter kit I have seen to date. Not really a true "technical" though.

My local shop carries some of the old Monogram (or is it AMT/Ertl?) civilian snap-tite 1/32 scale pickup trucks. These would be better if the Datsun or Toyota trucks were still available. All they have are the full sized Ford and Chevy trucks. Underside detailing is rather sparse though.

Try the Tamiya Clodbuster series ! These are a collection of 1/32 all terrain vehicles that are equipped with extremly large tires and a small electric engine.
THough they may look pretty crappy at first sight, the vehicle body is extremely well made and perfectly suited to use as a technical pickup in your dio ! You'll find them in most hobby stores and they cost about 25 €. I suggest you check them out. Don't forget that you'll need to add "normal" wheels that you borrow/copy from another kit (hummer, jeep, ...)

I had one of the Monogram Toyota pickups back in the early '90's. I really liked it. I made a USAF SP vehicle out of it. Simple swap of tires and you were in business. I miss that kit, wish I could find one again...

1/32 will work out fine. Thanks guys! My next problem with a 1/32 vehicle is the driver and gunner. 1/35 would look a little ugly on it.

Hmmmm.... But 54mm multiplied by 35 is 1890mm. Tall for a man, but not very tall. I am 1880 mm tall (6 ft and 2 in), so my figure in 1/35 scale would be 53.71mm. And I do not consider myself very tall (have colleague who is 2040mm).

In other words 1/35 scale equals 54mm, as far as typical figures are concerned.

In 1/32 my figure would be 58.75mm. Verlinden figures are big, but I don't think they are that big.

Regards,
Pawel
