on a second thought i'm looking also for better pics of the rear suspension area of the maz 7410 , i have made a big search on the net and the few i've found (even some screenshot from youtube )arent enough for a good rapresentation of them.I've tried also to write in some russian forums and modellers but for the moment i had no luck.A consideration..why we fell in love with the strangest version of the models??

Frenchy is not the MAZ-543 esentually the same vehicle as the 7410? - Except that the frame is considerably shorter partly because the rear two axles are more closely coupled and have leaf spring suspension rather than torsion bar?

Am I missing something here?

I always thought they were the same - am I mistaken?

I read where one guy made the conversion to a fifth wheel tractor and according to him, he cut and patched the frame in SEVEN places!

I am all cranked to start cutting on the new Trumpeter Scud kit as soon as it arrives so if I'm barking up the wrong tree please tell me now ! ! !

Maz 7410 is shorter than Maz 543 and have a different suspension system on the rear ( closer axle and extra leaf spring suspensions)so the guy that cutted the frame did the correct work!!I was only hoping to find a normal version with the fifth wheel, but up to now the only different wersions are with a cargo van or the naked frames.

Marco, Have you seen any published drawings of the 7410 as yet?

The only thing I found online was a set where the vehicle was drawn shorted as it should be but all the measurement numbers remained the same as the 543!

Yep, that is the best photo I have found!

Please everyone keep you eyes open for dimension drawings on the 7410.

It would be nice to KNOW what the wheel spacing is rather than having to guess.

if the drawings that we find on the net is correct (the one that show 10815 as total lenght..)a recalculation between the last two wheels lead me to a 166 cm (+ o -)i know it is not 100 accurate but is clear that cant be 220 cm as the front wheels.in the meanwhile if found this ...

btw i've wrote also to the guy that posted the maz7410 pictures but had no lucky with a reply.Maybe if we are able to understand where the automobile museum is we can try to write them and see if they have bettere pictures if it(..and maybe drawings)

Maybe it's far-fetched, but the MZKT-742910 appears to have a very similar chassis :

and it seems that i wasnt so far with the caculation;they put a 170 cm on the rear axle while i calculate 166 ( based on the drawings)so it seems logical that is the same axle (4,85 cm in 1/35,nearly the maz 537 rear axle measure)

Hello from Russia !

Well, men, here is gift for You:

No, this is impossible. The Museum You meaned is placed in base of one operative Army unit, and they provide very limited access to Museum - for technical specialists only. To make a lot of detailed photos, to transfer any archive materials from there (including any postal and e-mail correspondence) are strictly prohibited.

Thus, You must use what You have on this Day.

My thanks to both Marco and Eduard for your amazing information! Problem solved!

Somehow I missed these postings over the holiday season.

Marco that rear suspension drawing looks to be from a Russian Tech Manual. Any chance you found other detail drawings of the 7410???

Also what it the name of this Russian Automobile Museum located on a military base you and Eduard keep mentioning?

Many Thanks

Well, Mike, among those numerous posts I do not understand, what is Your exact question for now ?

That museum is "The Museum of military vehicles" - this is it's official name.

Just thought, that if we had the official name and location of the museum perhaps there would be a few photos of the exhibits published around the internet by either visiting individuals or the museum itself that we might discover.

As an example try searching the web for:

The Strategic Missile Forces Museum - Pobuz'ke, Ukraine;
