Does anyone have any tips on recreating a realistic US Army BDU camouflage scheme on 1/72 scale figures? I plan to use Humbrol/Revell enamels ... any suggestions on appropriate colour matches?

Which pattern will you be painting? Woodland, Desert or the new sage. Woodland and Desert are appropriate for the older style of BDU while sage is appropriate for the ACU's now being worn. Woodland colors would be medium green, Nato Black, Nato brown and loam. Desert you have two choices. Chocolate chip patter or the three tone pattern. Chocolate chip would be sand, red brown, white, black and loam. Three tone would be sand, brown and loam

If you're doing woodland, do the green, brown and tan first, then do the black "twig" pattern with a disposable .005 Tech Pen (ie Rapidograph). It's pretty easy and looks great.

I tired painting once using Caesar Miniature's Elite US soldiers. I used Vallejo Model Color paints

This is where I got my inspiration.

Hope this helps.
