Can anyone point me to any article on painting modern Russian camouflage uniforms (Like the ones worn by those "polite green men").. maybe a clear pic of what the camouflage looks like and what colors to use?
Thanks in advance
Hisham

Yes, Stuart, that's the uniform I had in mind.. just couldn't find a pic large and clear enough to see all the details in it. Now to figure out which colors to use
Thanks again

Hi Hisham- when I painted a few of the modern Russian figures recently I went with an all over dark green (Russian 4BO Base Green from AK- when Vallejo made their paints) followed by flicking paint onto the figure with a small brush and a piece of plastic. I went with a lighter, slightly olive coloured green (Mig Ammo Light Green Khaki) followed by a wood brown (Andrea Wood) and then black-grey (Vallejo Black Grey).

Thanks, guys... Here is a blown up pic of it, and it looks like you could go with light green base with dark green over it plus brown dots.. or dark green base with light green over it.. I suppose both would give the same appearance
Karl.. when you say flicking, do you mean holding the brush to the plastic piece, then snapping it so it sprays paint onto the figure?
I'm waiting for some paints in the mail.. I'll try it when I get them.

I don't know where I got that "blown up" from! Well, I didn't get any sleep last night.. that must have had something to do with it
Thanks for that link.. I had forgotten about that thread.
Hisham
I just noticed the last one in the "Green men" has a solid color green uniform, is that right, or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Plain green would be so much easier to paint

For more solid colors, I have seen the "GORKA-3" canvas mountain suit...
and the excellent EVOLUTION figure EM35104...
(I am trying this one now myself)

Yeap- thats what I mean. Originally I planned to try and paint it with a fine brush as I have done US ACU pattern that way but I didn't really like the way it turned out. The digital pixels in the Russian uniform are also quite small when you see them up close- and thats what brought me to the idea of flicking the paint onto the figure to create very small dots. I will post a picture or two of my finished figures when I have the time.
As some have pointed out here they were not all in strictly identical uniforms. Some were wearing variations including chest rigs in the older Flora pattern.

Hoping Hisham will not mind you sharing at least a link to the SBS stuff as I am interested in how this was done. Looking good!

Yes she does draw the eye. And I am sure the young soldier's hand gesture is a tactical sign to advance on the target as well?! LOL Cheers
