So here is my build log of my Panzer III Ausf. L by Tamiya kit # 35215. I will post updates here, with more blah blah blah stuff on my blog.

This will be done as a D.A.K. tank where I am concentrating on a clean build, single color and some weathering as it is my first build log.

Here are the goodies:

Hop over to my blog for more pictures and I will update here soon.

Just click on Project DAK Panzer III to see full build up.

So here goes. Here is a link to a video review of the kit by TacticalJackolope on youtube. First some shots of the sprues.

2 of these that have all of the wheels

Upper hull

Turret and gun

Add on armor, tools and accessories

Lower hull

Tracks

First I cleaned up and assembled the drive sprockets, idler wheels, 6 return rollers and 12 road wheels

Then I got started on the lower hull and suspension components

Once I put final drives on I will fill in what is left of that seam.

Please comment and let me know if you see something I can fix. I am learning and I enjoy reading your posts and also seeing your builds.

Also you can visit my blog here

Thanks for looking!

So after a small family stuff interruption, I am back at the Panzer III. Just a small update with some turret completed.

Gun with mantlet

Business end

Shame all of that detail will be locked way never to be seen again.

Turret

Almost ready to prime and then on to paint!
Thanks as always for looking, and please comment with any pointers or any mistakes you see.

From the looks of it, it seems you have a pretty good handle on what you're doing so far. Keep it up!

The Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.L (trop) is probably my favorite Pz.III- a close tie would be the the Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.E,with the 3.7cm Main Gun, which DRAGON makes- (France, 1940).

The TAMIYA Pz.III Ausf.L STILL compares quite nicely with the CYBERHOBBY kit of the Pz.III Ausf.L (trop). I've built the CYBERHOBBY kit, along with several of the DRAGON kits in lieu of the TAMIYA kit, which I will update and modify to represent a knocked out/scuttled AFRIKA KORPS vehicle, mostly intact, but obviously burnt-out. HELLO, MIG "Wrecked Pz.IV" build, but my Pz.III will not be quite as damaged as MIG's...

I started the TAMIYA Pz.III L quite a few years ago, but never finished it, mainly because the CYBERHOBBY/DRAGON III's were rolling out like buns in a bakery. I have a set of the appropriate tracks by MODELKASTEN, which I will be using in lieu of the TAMIYA tracks, and an ABER PE kit, which I will be incorporating in the build as I go on..

Looking forward to the completion of the build in this thread!!!

Very small update today as I am still awaiting some goodies in the mail.

Ground contact surface of the tracks all primed.

Wheel side.

One of the spare track stes for the front of the hull.

A test of the primer on a sprare road wheel.

Wheels all ready for primer.

return rollers.

I must say, I am impressed with the Ammo of Mig primer. I am not very experienced and the primer went on the tracks very smoothly and with no issue. I will be doing reviews of all of the products I use for this build (except the kit which was reviewed on youtube by tacticaljackolope here
As always, thanks for looking and giving feedback. If you would like to see more pictures, please visit my blog here

PS, Dennis where in NY are you? I'm upstate near Albany.

Don't know how much detailing you have in mind for this, Doug, but if you have a small enough bit, you may want to drill out the ends of the spare links where the pins would go.

The track piece that you show has the pin ends on the left side, but no pin going through, and the right side has no holes at all.

Just a thought....

HI, DOUG!!! After living just outside of Oneonta for 31 years, I've re-located to about a-mile-and-a-half West of the booming metropolis of East Branch, New York, on the old Route 17. East Branch is about half-way between Downsville (on Route 30/Route 206) and Hancock, (Route 17/Route 97).

It's a very pretty area... The closest hobby shops for me are up in and around Albany/Schenectady, or Binghamton, which is a lot closer to where I live on the old Route 17. Consequently, I've been buying and selling on ebay...

I will always have a soft spot, for panzers. This looks to be building up quite well. The hatch, for the turret bin looks upside down. It may just be the photo, but:

Photo for discussion purposes, only.
