Try doing a Google image search for "kerosene lanterns" -- you'll find many photos.

I need lanterns for a dio I'm doing and had to get the pix from a Google search. Use the wine bottle making trick of putting a piece of sprue or round styrene in your drill chuck and "turn" it to shape like a lathe. Thats the glass chimney. It would be colored anyway if its lit. If you need it clear, try clear plastic the same way, then work your way down to finer grits of sandpaper until you get to the buff stuff.

I've got to try it myself.

Try some very fine solder for the metal straps. You can roll it flat with the handle of a tool. Or, you can use lead foil, or even aluminum.
