Startig a figure of a german mountaineer picture on packet shows uniform to be a brown leather is this correct help please if poss thanks richard

I'm no expert on the subject but I can't say I've ever seen any indication that Gebirgsjaeger were issued leather uniforms on any coherent basis. None of my (admittedly limited) references (Osprey Warrior 74, some of Brian Davis's books for example) show such clothing being issued. Are you sure it's leather? It wouldn't be my first choice for mountaineering.

Wool is the top choice for mountaineering ...and leather (probably) the worst!!

Gebirgsjäger follow a long tradition of hunting and fighting in the mountains, and they know what is best for them!
