Spray Booth

I am in the process of building my first permanent, dedicated modelling space. I plan a spray booth for airbrushing and have reviewed several articles and Youtubes. Many posts call for moving 200 cfm. I was hoping to use a bathroom exhaust fan venting directly through a wall (less than a foot of hose and one 90 bend). An 80 cfm unit should refresh the entire volume of my booth every 3 to 4 seconds. Am I misguided to think that this should be adequate ventilation? The difference in cost is significant and I also don't want to suck all the heat out of my house. Any experience with this out there?

hello
I am planning on getting a spray both myself. I have never had one before in my model space in the cold basement.
as far at the CFM goes, I do not think 80 CFM will do what you think and adding the bend is not good at either.
I do testing of package systems in chambers and we use a car electric fan to circulate air when required.
most small electric car fans go up to 250 CFM or more and run on 12 v dc up to 12 amps. the fan is easy to mount and is sealed so chemicals, fumes and moisture will not hurt it. second I use a 40 watt computer power supply to provide the 12 v dc with the correct amperage. computer power supplies of course go to house current of 110 v at 20 amp / 60 hertz. the computer power supply will not work until you short our the two pins on the mother board plug to make the power supply think it is hooked to a mother board, the pins are pointed out in the instructions. this will give you plenty of CFM even with the bend and the fans around me at auto stores I buy the $61.00 after market fans for extra cooling and my local computer store for the power supply is about $38.00. so you around $110.00 you can have a really g0od fan and if you want to add a pot or dimmer switch you can control the speed of the fan. too much CFM can suck the paint away from the model. Now do not forget to get a good filter between the spray both and the fan.
I hope this helps.

May I make a suggestion? I've been using one of these for a year now — seems to do the trick.

You want to shoot for about 100 fpm at the entry of the booth. That will tell you what cfm fan you want.
