I've always just used the spray cans of enamel dull coat (generally Model Master), but today I went looking for spray cans of acrylic dull coat and found none. The only option was dull coat in a jar, which evidently can be airbrushed like any other paint.

Do you prefer spray cans or airbrushing to apply dull coats? Either way, what products do you prefer? And finally, if you prefer airbrushing, what do you use to thin it? Same thing as paint, or does a dull coat require something different?

I agree, with Kevin. I use Testors DullCoat, sprayed straight from the bottle. If you want an acrylic flat coat, you can use Krylon clear flat. I decant this and spray it through my airbrush. Using an airbrush allows more control of the amount and target area you wish to cover. I used to build car models and only used rattle cans. The effect was often too much paint washing away the fine details and keeping some workable parts from operating.

Like Kevin and Matt, I use Testors dull with my airbrush. I've found that more times than not a spray can puts out too much and leaves you with a satin finish instead of dull.
