Now that Blackdog has released the 1/35 USMC M151A2 FAV conversion, I am wondering about the Kirin "Super Jeep" M151 FAV kit and what it is supposed to represent.
I have read about the USMC M151 FAV being deployed to Liberia and Bosnia, but does anyone who what the U.S. Ranger M151 FAV did?
I ask because the Kirin kit represents a FAV that looks different than the USMC Blackdog kit. For one, the USMC did not wrap their rollbars as in the Kirin kit and as far as I know did not have a AT-4 hood rack.
However, someone posted a photo of another U.S. Ranger M151A2 FAV and it looks vastly different from the Kirin or Blackdog conversions.

Here is the 1/35 USMC Blackdog conversion:

And here is the 1/35 Kirin "Super Jeep" conversion:

As such, what is the Kirin "Super Jeep" supposed to represent?
Thanks in advance.

Having built the Kirin kit, I would say the Blackdog one is a letdown, the wheels/tyres are poor for a 2014 conversion and the etched paniers don't even fit the shape of the car!
I hope another manufacturer will tackle this conversion (Legend are you listening?).
If you must build one RIGHT NOW, I'd pick the Kirin conversion.
About the configuration, I have collected pics along the years and there is a wide array of features.
Cheers,
Christophe

Christophe,
I would be very interested in seeing some of the photos you have gathered.
The Black Dog USMC FAV kit looks very good in photos and I am very tempted to buy it. However, there's a review on Armorama about the Black Dog Mercedes Wolf SOF conversion and that conversion kit received mixed reviews.
Did you build your Kirin FAV to any particular unit, time period, or battle?
