Hi,
I'm looking for good quality line drawings for this vehicle based on the M113A3 I believe...
I found a few basic ones and a TM via Google, but not enough to attempt a conversion in 1/35th scale.
Thank you for your help!
Cheers,
Christophe

Frenchy what sort of main gun is that? Flame thrower or a light gun trying to look like a cannon?

Most likely it is a piece of piping (metal pipe, maybe even plastic) pretending to be a main gun of large caliber.
That M113 is actually trying to look like a T-80 .....

You have to let us know which version of OPFOR VISMOD you are looking to build. There are many different ones built on the M113A3 chassis. If you have an idea of which one, we can help better than all of us guessing.

I'm not Christophe, but I know for sure it's the one I've posted a picture of in my previous post

Here's another view for the inquiring minds

I believe it's called OSTS-MBT (Surrogate Training Systems-Main Battle Tank)....

I rather prefer the Sheridan based ones, and could definitely hook them up with references I took.

Hi Gino,
I'm not looking for any VISMOD I'm looking for the OPFOR Surrogate Vehicle as per official regulation.
The one Frenchy posted TWICE.

Christophe

Looks like they were built on M-163 Vulcan hulls.

OK, there are a few OSVs as well on the M113A3 chassis.
This is the one used by the 11 ACR at Ft Irwin, CA, at the National Training Center (NTC) to represent a BMP2.

The OSV is a VISMOD though. VISMOD is any vehicle that is VISually MODified to represent another countries (usually your enemy's) vehicle. All the vehicle that heve been shown here are VISMODS.

Why do you say that? They are specially built on M113A3s. I don't think there is anything that says they were prior M163s though.

In the video the turret is functional and a M163 would best be suited to do that. A look at the top rear deck or inside the rear ramp A M901 would also be a possibility.
Although I know the ones at the NTC were rebuilt with the turret mods.
Of course I could be totally wrong.

Thank you all for your comments, and a big special "merci" for Frenchy.
I got the idea of modelling this vehicle while browsing this book.
It says the designation is OSTS-MBT and that it is based on M901 chassis.
I just found out the OSTS MBT designation by reading this German book and this brings up new things in Internet searches.
Cheers,
Christophe

I thought I read the M901 were converted by BAe Systems. The "T-80" OSTS MBT and the "BMP-2" OSTS IFV share the same conical turret with only different external fittings the interior of the turret is similar to a Bradley. Here in Germany we have only the T-80 and the BMP-1 (M113 A3 with a MILES laser gun attached) OSTS at JMRC Hohenfels. By the way the gunfire simulator is called the Main Gun Simulator System MGSS. I still look for one or two for my planned EAS builds.
A VISMOD conversion on the M551 is need in 1/35 scale but need a good M551 first.
