Good morning,
I am in the process of painting the M1070 tractor and having trouble identifying the 'Desert Sand' color used on contemporary U.S. vehicles in the Desert Storm or Afghanistan theaters.
I have finally made the switch and am using only acrylics and would like to identify the closest match using either Vallejo Model or Air colors?
I have a bottle AK Interactive #AK 122, though it appears to be too light a shade.
Can anyone suggest a better paint reference or color?
Thanks, Bob

Bob, I just finished a MAXXPRO in the features section. I used Model Master FS33531 Sand which was one of the colors recommended by Kinetic. However, I thought it was a tad light so I added a few drops of Model Master FS30277 Armor Sand. This made it slightly darker. Also, the pigments and washes darkened it up as well.

I'll second the Model Master Sand FS33531. It is the closest to actual CARC Tan on modern US vehicles. Once weathered and dirtied up a bit, it looks spot on.

Les, I think Mr. Color H313 is the equivalent of FS33531 which is what I used on my MAXXPRO. I just had to darken it up slightly with a few drops of Armor Sand FS 30277.
